Whether you're a full time worker, or another kind of hard worker, a sportsperson or someone who stands up for most of their day we ALL need to unwind. Not just physically, but mentally too.
In a world where according to global research statistics, 1 in 4 people have struggled at some point with mental health issues. It would be an understatement to say that more of us need to learn to relax. Let me show you how!
Reading
The first one is quite obvious to most people as it is something that both the old and the young do. However when we read, it is the authors job to take us on a journey by appealing to our 5 senses through the books narrative and description. This allows us to become fully immersed in a book, by slowly slipping away and escaping our daily lives, even if it's just for a short while to retreat in a mental safe-haven.
Movies & TV Shows
This one is a little more complicated depending on the kinds of shows you like. This one works best for those of you that enjoy watching comedy movies. I say comedy because the well known saying "laughter is the best medicine" is said for a reason: because it's true. Laughter has so many positive benefits, such as burning calories, altering your brain chemistry, physically and psychologically relaxing people since the beginning of time, laughter boosts your immune system, and let's not forget it's ability to diminish all feelings of stress.
Meditation
This one works best if you live alone, or have 10-20 minutes to spare without being disturbed. There are many apps you can download for meditation on to your phone using the App Store or Google Play Store, or you can simply search for meditation on YouTube or Google and thousands of videos will pop up. For those of you who have never lost your meditation virginity (pardon the phrase) would be best suited to 'guided meditation' and those of you that are already familiar with the practice should find 'storytelling meditation' or 'binaural beats meditation' . I promise you, that with time this one gets easier and helps you learn to "switch off" and focus on things other than life's pressures and your ego self.
Adult Colouring
Colouring books are usually something we associate with children, however this is no longer the case with the creation of adult colouring books, you are able to take your mind on a journey by bringing to life what you see on a page, using colouring pencils as they key to unlocking your imagination thus, helping you unwind.
