It's ironic how relationships are integral to our lives and well-being, yet we know so little about how they function. Love remains a mystery despite many psychologists, philosophers, poets, filmmakers, and researchers trying to understand it. But, there are certain things that do happen in relationships, more often than not. One of those things is that the dynamics between a couple changes when the relationship becomes serious. Wondering what they are? Here’s taking a look…

  • YOU GET COMFORTABLE AROUND EACH OTHER

No, we’re not talking only about farting and burping in front of each other, but, also a deeper, emotional comfort. You start being more yourself. When we are trying to woo someone, we are at our best. But, once the wooing is done, we start to relax a bit, and are able to be more authentic with our partner.

  • SOMETIMES, YOU MAY FEEL BORED

If you let the boredom stay too long, it may be detrimental to your relationship, but boredom is a normal part of a relationship, and if yours is serious, you are likely to have phases of ennui.

  • YOU MAY START QUESTIONING THE RELATIONSHIP

Now, of course, you won’t doubt a relationship if it doesn’t involve emotional investment and risk, right? As long as it is fun, it is just that — fun. But, when things start getting serious, the stakes get higher, and it is but natural to have some doubts at this point.

  • YOU START DEVELOPING A FRIENDSHIP

What’s on the other side of the honeymoon phase? Friendship. What’s important to have a lasting relationship? Friendship. What’s the foundation of a fulfiling relationship? That’s right! Friendship.

  • FIGHTING DOESN’T MEAN BREAKING UP

If you start treating fights as an opportunity to grow individually and as a couple, good for you! You’re just getting serious.

  • YOU BECOME LESS CALCULATIVE

You stop thinking in terms of how long you should wait to text or call, or how many emojis are too many emojis. You just reach out to them as you please, because you start owning the relationship.

  • YOU DON’T MIND HANGING OUT TOGETHER, BUT DOING YOUR OWN THING

You read your book, while he watches a movie. You catch up with your friend over the phone, while he whips up a meal. You read the news, while he scrolls through memes. Basically, the focus shifts from doing things together to being together
