Do you remember that time in your childhood when everything seemed possible? How about your adolescence when your dreams started to gain shape and relevance and you were already more or less aware of your potential and the things you could accomplish. I am sure that those were blissful times in which you felt you could literally become anything you wanted to. The world was an infinte of possibilities, laying ahead countless paths you could choose to walk on. You used to have the hope, energy and determination that could move mountains.
But than came adulthood with its myriad obstacles and you soon realized that behind every opportunity there is also challenge and that no matter how much you want to achieve something sometimes, some things are simply unattainable.
You learned burdened of responsibility and your sense of realism got sharper as the dreamer in you started to turn into a stranger. You felt the joy that comes with success, but also realized that you can only get there through hard work.
And so, you worked and worked and pushed your limits further and further until one day you stopped and asked yourself "is there nothing more to life than this"? You then realized that most of your friends had the same dilemma as they were all part of the same mechanism that nurtured but also exploited them. You were all putting the best years of your life and the best ti e of your days into a greater system that was meant to keep the world on the move.
And up to this day, you are still wondering "is there a way out"? Are we simply supposed to work until we are no longer useful machines? Why do we choose to do this and watch our best years fading away?
There is no easy way round this and there are no solutions. Life itself is a compromise because it is limited. But you get too choose how you want to live it and you are the only one who can set yourself free from the trap of adulthood.
If you hate doing the same thing over and over again and living each day like yesterday, start changing some things. Devote more time to your hobbies. Start learning something new that will keep your mind busy and get you out of routine. Spend more time with your children. Change your job. Get divorced if you no longer get along with your partner and dare to fall in love again. Discover your spiritual side.
There are so many things you could do to bring back color into your life! And remember that your mind can be your prison or the key that sets you free from any constraints.
