Failures Build A Person, Not Successes

in #life7 years ago

Success is overrated.

Source

I know that one is praised for his successes and ridiculed for his failures by the crowd, but who cares what the people think. You don't. Right? Because that's the one of the most important things that you need in your life, personal, professional or otherwise. The moment you stop caring about what others think about you, that's when you learn to let loose all your potential and not hold anything back. That's when you can actually go back, look at your failures and see where you went wrong instead of being ashamed. You can never satisfy the masses. Never, period. Even when you do something ground-breaking, there will always be those people who will stop at anything to bash you and discredit you.

It's more about discovering one's weaknesses than discovering one's strengths. Let's do it right now for a minute. Can you list three of your strengths or the things that you are good at? I bet you can! Now try to list three of your weaknesses. It gets a bit difficult for people including me!

So how do you realize your weaknesses?

Source

You guessed it. The answer lies within the failures you've endured in the past. Let's face it, I am not going to tell you that once you conquer your weaknesses you are headed straight for that realm of success, that's not the truth. There will always be failures. Always. It's the sad reality of our universe. But once you do realize where you went wrong, you become better at not failing. i.e. you take your first giant leap towards the island of your dreams.

You shouldn't be afraid of failures. You needn't be afraid of failures. So what you lost the battle, the war is still going on. The only way to turn the tide in this war is to learn from the mistakes which caused you to lose the battle. A lot of the people that I have come to know fear a loss because of the "shame" it brings with it. People will make fun of you either way, it's their job to laugh and to make fun. Nobody needs that kind of toxicity in their life, it's better to cut them out.

To not fail is the death of innovation, to somewhat extent. A great amount of things can be learned in each failed attempt. Once you step out of that dark room of denial and fear, nothing can stop you. No one is doomed to be a failure. Yes, this is true. If you can fail once, then why can't succeed twice?

As I re-read what I've written, I can't help but feel that I'm demonizing the very idea of "success" which is definitely not my purpose here. I feel very sad when people have to endure failures, but I get even more sad when they lose the courage to continue. Failures are hard, I get it. But when you lose the courage to try again, that's when fall into the dark depths of depression, which is a very, very bad place. Even when you feel everything's lost, most times it's not. Even if it is, another opportunity will raise it's head which is only a matter of time.

Luck and time are the two biggest factors that dictate failure and success. I was hesitant to mention these two in this article, but I decided that it would be dishonest. Even when you do your very best, when you defeat the odds, your fears, and the world, something unexpected happens and your worst nightmare becomes your very reality. In the end, luck still holds quite a few shares in your life, just like time. You just can't eliminate this factor even if you do your best to do everything else perfectly. This scares me to death, to tell you the truth.

I have always done my best to do what I am preaching to you guys here, and I have a good track-record. Not great, but hey it's something. This is something that I think I will have to work on my whole life. Some punches that life throws at you just shake you to your core and before you know it there's a hook coming right for your only good eye that's left in this deathly boxing match against life. I have been in that dark room of denial and fear, and it took me a while to get out. If I got out, then anyone can.

The road to success is a tough one, but the destination of the traveler on this road doesn't matter. The journey itself, and the hurdles encountered do. In each and every person there exists a certain degree of talent. All of the world's piety and goodness exists solely in the effort of honing that talent to it's sharpest edge. The thing is, no one has attained that degree of perfection and honestly, no one ever will. But in the efforts of honing that certain talent, a man becomes a man.

As always, thanks for reading.

I agree. We tend to celebrate success but there are many more oportunities to learn from failure. One just has to be mature, confident and resilient enough.
Don't get me wrong... I prefer to succeed!

I posted this today and I guess it's not off topic : ) The best test I have ever failed

Life is too complicated. Success and failure are just sides of the same coin. Someone is motivated by success others by failure.

Definitely agree with you. In my opinion, failure is a bit more strong motivator as you strive harder to succeed. Followed you :D.

good post keep it up viva la steem

I always think about the phoenix rising from the ashes and becoming a majestic bird of mythic. Never underestimate the power of coming back stronger than ever.

Many a Great thing has happened due to a lack of negative input or an ability to tune it out, success is putting the failures to bed and attacking the next untried angle, eventually running out of failures LOL
Good post, Thanks

Just because you fail, doesn't mean the end of the world. Thanks for posting this.

It's a close race. You're currently in the lead

The way you look at yourself makes who you are

if you can't transform your failures into success after a period of time, do something else. Sorry, it's the truth.

How long is a "period of time" from your point of view?

if you can't transform your failures into success in one field, how can you say that you'll be able to transform your failures into success in some other field?

Great post. It really gives you something to think about if you've never had this perspective before.

I totally agree with you about the hurdles in life that we have to overcome making us stronger and teaching us something each time we get passed them. :D

I love it all! I've upvoted this post. Thanks for sharing @infinitor

Because of the fear of failure and what people would think, some people don't even try at all. Great post.

Failure leads to anger, anger leads to the drive to fail again. Eventually you will succeed by failing countless times.

everyone experiences failure on their way to success, this is a great, thought-provoking post. failure can quite often teach us something valuable if we let it

So when i fail first time it means i did not fail in fact :P

Failing is one of the best tutors in career development. Consider the story of a new bank president who went to meet his predecessor. Upon being introduced he quickly said, “I would like to know what have been the keys to your success.” The older man looked at him for a moment and replied, “Young man, I can sum it up in two words: Good decisions.” To that the young man replied, “I thank you immensely for that advice, sir, but how does one come to know which are the good decisions?” “One word, young man,” replied the old man. “Experience.” “That’s all good and well,” said the young executive, “but how does one get experience?” “Two words,” replied the old man, “Bad decisions.”

A very inspirational tale! I think that the very crux of success is failure itself.

Thank you! I found it suitable to share with you guys :). P.S followed you :)

Done, great job btw :)

Awesome post.

I probably failed more than most people I know, and I probably also had more success than all the people I know, and the only thing that led to that was me not giving up.

I always imagined success as being some kind of really expensive and shiny jewelry that you want to get, while having to pass all the obstacles that protect it.

You will fail, many times, and you will be hurt in the process, but if you keep walking towards that shiny jewelry, and if you never give up, you will, eventually, obtain it.

I guess one of the main reasons people give up on their dreams and on the things they want most is because they never expect success to be so hard to reach.

They see other people succeeding and they expect to be able to get what those people have. They forget that in order to get successful, those people had to fight, and had to resist the urge of giving up on all the days life decided to just give them a hard time.

The taste of success is a sweet one, as long as you're willing to work hard and not give up.

The only piece of advice I can give to anyone willing to give up, is this - don't. I did it in the past, and there's nothing worse than giving up on something then regret it.

there's nothing worse than giving up on something then regret it.

Oh man I know how this feels. Thank you for such an insightful comment.
