"Discipline is Simply Remembering What you Want"
My Momma always told me, and I've always quite liked that. Sometimes we forget what we want, and then it's very difficult for ourselves to feel content or fulfilled, because we're not really doing anything to set in motion the chain of events that will lead to us experience our true heart's desire.
Sometimes we have to ask ourselves the question: "What do I want?"
Other times, we simply have to remember, because we've already received the answer.
Deep down inside, many of us have dreams, but we were convinced by life to stop pursuing them. Many in life miss their calling... I've seen this many times, when I'm speaking to a 50 year-old and going "My God this person has such personality, talent and intellect!"
Why didn't they do anything with it for all these years?
It's becoming increasingly difficult for many of us to remember what we truly want when we're constantly being bombarded with psychic programming which is creating artificial wants within us... These are inorganic wants or unnatural wants, and many today have a hard-time (or inability) distinguishing what they really want from what they've been taught to want.
Yet in a world where this is happening, if we can but find one moment of clarity, where the true desire of our heart's passion resonates powerfully through us as we imagine a dream life, that is the epiphany, the moment of truth that we must hold on to and let guide us for the rest of our lives...
It's funny because life is on the one hand incredibly short, but for the mass of us, is long enough to pursue any dream that we truly hold... Whether we reach it or not ultimately doesn't matter... Dreamers always end-up creating dream-like lives for themselves no matter the circumstances, as long as they can fully accept the dream and commit their soul to striving for it.
Personally, my dream is a crystal clear picture that I can re-call and hold in my mind any time I stray off the path, or feel a bit lost... It's the ultimate realization of every yearning inside of me; composed of myriads of paths and ways to achieve it, and it guides me through my life and now for over 2 years...
And even when I think I've forgotten about it, or let go off it, I will be made to remember it in a lucid dream where the entire embodiment of my dream and life's work will be presented in an undeniable, powerful and elucidating symbol...
It's really amazing to me that the most common excuse for not doing what we are truly passionate about is not "oh I don't have the money" or "just don't have the time" or "it's just a luxury I can't afford"... No...
When we get right down to it...
I FEAR I AM NOT GOOD ENOUGH...
The biggest obstacle and barrier to our own self-actualization and fulfillment is 9 times out of 10...
That's why we just need to know what we want, and just chase it, at every opportunity, at every turn of corner, at every single crossroad and intersection in our lives that allow us to flow from the heart and move in the direction of our heart's yearning...
Will Smith put it beautifully:
"There's a redemptive power that making a choice has, rather than feeling like you're at effect to all the things that are happening. Make a choice. You just decide what it's gonna be, who you're gonna be, you just decide. And then from that point the universe is going to get out your way."
Very beautifully articulated post! Our thoughts, emotions and actions plays major role in manifesting our desires and goals. The trick is to get total control over your mind, body, spirit through self-dicipline, perseverance, goal-setting and following strict guidelines.
Hi @starangel
Thank you so much for such a wonderful comment! And apologies for the delayed response!
Total control over the mind, body and spirit; through self-discipline, perseverance, goal-setting and following strict guidelines
Your insight perfectly encapsulates the entire purpose of this post... That is the goal! That is what virtue is truly all about... Not the kind of self-righteousness that is so prevalent in our world, but sincerity, integrity, honesty, loyalty... The real values that build great men and women
There is such a thing as being great and we get there one small step at a time
Thanks again for your powerful input <3
self determination makes us who we are and if we strive for success that we must get if we plan very well .
secondly the environment also help to achieve ones dreams.
thanks for sharing this wonderful post.
stay blessed good friend.
Hi @egbujorvictor
Self-determination is the absolute most powerful driving force to create our lives...
They say 90% of everything is what happens to us. The other 10% is what we do about...
We can only control our response to our environment; but even the most unfavorable of environments does allow for miracles... Only those who truly understand the nature of Will and Magic have the power to achieve their dreams.
Dreams are made of the same stuff as intention... Pure, unspoiled, unbridled intention.
Anything is possible with the right state of consciousness
Good post..
the life of the world is like a dream that can sometimes be real and sometimes not
Hi @spurss
I concur! Life is like a dream and though some things will manifest and others will not, what is sure is that within each and everyone of us exists everything necessary to manifest our dreams into reality! Thanks for sharing x
Our mind has the power to lead us everywhere. Will it lead to worries or success is purely our choice.
Thank you for this post! A nice read for the morning.
Hi @spellmaker
Thanks so much for your wonderful comment <3
You are so correct! I'm so glad everybody who came across this article really got it!
The mind is a faithful servant, but a terrible master!
We must discipline the mind and it will lead us to whatever we will it to xx
Very well said! There are entire industries out to distract us, staying focused is all but a lost art! And this "It's becoming increasingly difficult for many of us to remember what we truly want when we're constantly being bombarded with psychic programming which is creating artificial wants within us" - YES!
When we drive down the strip in the valley, there entire street is just a giant energy suck trying to make people WANT whatever that shop sells, and even at 25 mph that is sort of the psychic equivelant to having a line of two years old miles long all saying "Want this!" "Want this!" "Want this!" They know they only have your attention for a moment and they pay good money to make you WANT as much as possible as fast as possible.
