Light up the fire in your belly
Forget about motivational videos.
This is real life.
I’ve never witnessed this here. I always thought this happens in America. Only in America? Of course not. Just never got to see it. Or pay attention to it.
Whenever I’m up early and in the real world I feel crazy. In a good way. Utilizing the day while most people sleep in.
It started on the train.
It was packed. I honestly didn’t expect that many people on such an early train.
I was going to take pictures of the sunrise. Do a couple other things.
Had this park with a beautiful skyline view in mind.
Fixie, sneakers, hoodie, furiously typing my phone.
The older corporate people probably were amused. Hopeful. Like I was a startup founder.
Helping this country and showing them that the younger generation does know what work is.
Even though I’m not in the tech capital of Germany.
The park I was headed to has multiple basketball courts. Soccer cages. A skate park. A lot of possibilities.
On one of the basketball courts was a boy playing. Dribbling. Shooting baskets. He was good.
That’s early. It was about 6:15.
I decided to play with him for a bit and asked him why he was up so early.
He quoted Michael Jordan:
Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.
I was amazed. This is truly inspiring.
Where are all the other kids?
Just remember when you stop practicing there is a kid across the globe shooting 500 more free throws.
This holds true for everything you do. Want to accomplish.
I asked him about his friends.
He’s focused on his mission. Sacrifices have to be made.
I wished him well and hope for the best.
Then I handled what I had come to do.
Some more kids showed up for different sport activities.
He was still there practicing when I went home.
Talk about hustle!
It was a freaking Thursday. While everybody sleeps in to be ready for party at night these young hustlers used the time off from school (holidays) to hone their crafts.
Talk about sparking a fire in me.
If this boy is so committed than I have to get my stuff together. Do the work.
So do you.
Thanks to him the fire in my belly lit up. Brighter than before.
Make it happen!
nice article interesting to read. upvoted
Sometimes we must remove all extraneous thought to focus on the main task, like this boy. But it's hard after years.
