Let me tell you exactly how I played my way to recovering from mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual decay. Yes I said PLAY! Just like the kids we were, we can play our way back to health.
You know how people love watching and sharing the highlights of life? Of course because it feels good and things appear to be going well.
However, for the last year and a half I had been watching and sharing the lowlights. The lowlights of my life kept playing in my head over and over again. I felt stuck and unable to shake what I was dealing with.
And then came this book. This book become of the most important things that helped me refocus my life and break free of what had been holding me down for so long. Reading Play It Away was the first step I took to reclaiming my life from the dumps. I was overworked, stressed and worried about everything. I even worried that I would die. That's how bad things were for me.
Here are the main things I learned and this may help you if you find yourself in a similar state of life:
- Overwork is a serious problem and it needs to be addressed as soon as possible
- Depriving yourself of play is most likely the main cause of an unhealthy life
- Go in the direction of what you are most attracted to
- Don't feel guilty about playing because your body and mind literally depend on it
- Surround yourself with people (Steemit relationships are good but face to face relationships are even better) that want to have fun and treat life as play.
- Although it will be hard at times, start looking at work as something that is to be enjoyed
- Write out the anchors that are holding you back in life and try to find simple solutions to get rid of them
Mankind's Search For The Ideal World & How It Can Lead To Final Destiny
Reading this book and the Bible, which is directly from the mind of the Creator of all things, put life in perspective for me. There is a new and infinitely better world that is about to come and you do not want to miss out on being a part of it.
In fact, you are invited to the biggest party in the history of mankind. Peace is coming to the world soon. Having this new world to look forward to everyday keeps me fighting to continue helping, encouraging, loving, and inspiring people. My life has changed forever.
Traveling!!!
My wife and I along with our little lioness, Nala took a road trip back in October. We had fun hiking in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Then we traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada which is where I want to live one day. In Vegas we hiked, camped and ate so much great vegan food. Man I hated leaving Vegas. After that we headed to Phoenix, Arizona to stay about 4 days with my wife's grandpa. We mainly chilled out at the house enjoying the refreshing pool as well as went hiking to see sexy mountains. Lol. I know that last part is weird.
This refreshed my mind so much and helped me to refocus and think about what I wanted to do in life and how I could get it done. Taking road trips like these helps you decompress and get away from stressful and deadly environments.
High Levels of Creative Work
I am a creator, therefore I create. I love creating. Whether it's writing on Steemit, making music, brainstorming creative ideas, a little graphic design, making videos, I enjoy the process of manifesting things simply from my thoughts.
Creativity is the juice that can mend your mind and start the recovery process. Working on creative pursuits has made a night and day difference in my overall health and I know it can work for you too.
Becoming A Better Basketball Player
So as most of you know by now I really enjoy playing basketball when I get the chance. The fact that I get to workout my body and improve my physical health makes such a big difference. When I was dealing with all that crap for so long including a shoulder surgery I had gotten away from playing this game that I enjoy.
Once I begin working out and playing B-ball again my vigor shot through the roof. Now I want to focus on continuing to play and improve my skills. Find a sport or exercise that you really enjoy and have fun with it. This is a miracle for improving your health.
Float The Stress Away
I didn't know what to expect from floating at first. But I will try to give you an idea of what floating is like.
You are in room temperature water that is so salty it makes you float. You are alone with your thoughts and you have to face yourself. At first your thoughts will run wild due to not having anything to stimulate your mind. It's not scary it's just completely different than anything you've done in your life. Your body relaxes and the tension melts like butter. You may go to sleep which if you do it will be the best sleep you've never had.
After about 30 minutes or so depending on how long you paid to float, the water jets will come on to let you know that it is time to exit the pod. Do not rub your eyes. Remember you were laying in salt water and it will burn if you do. Ahhhh. You feel so loose and refreshed. Now for a quick shower to wash the salt off and you're on your way to a much more relaxing day.
Get Your Head Right
Now I've only done meditation much more recently but what I've noticed was that I was alot less anxious and less prone to getting angry. Meditating allows your mind to just BE. It's not about trying to change your thoughts. It's simply about allowing your mind to relax and focus.
This is also another thing that has aided in my recovery and I now understand why so many people talk about using it in their lives. There's an app called HEADSPACE that pretty much walks you through how to meditate. Maybe you'll find it helpful.

I am an IT guy and have to balance Professional life and Family life and now I have to balance STEEMIT life as well! So, with my busy life style I think I need to follow what you said here!

We already know that what you focus on you attract. Worry, fear, and negative thinking allow the mind to focus on things you don’t want, so Mind Power teaches you to eliminate negative thinking. Train your mind to think about what you want in life, and avoid thinking about what you don’t want. The key is to catch the negatives before they have time to become entrenched. With practice you will notice right away when you are thinking negatives, and you then can take the appropriate actions. The mind is a creature of habit, so encourage positive thoughts and eliminate negative ones. Really excited about your well-being now.

Reading posts like this makes me want to find a nice big piece of infertile land and rehabilitate it. Maybe the side of a mountain. I'd grow things. Mostly things that can be eaten. I wouldn't use chemicals, so the birds, animals and insects would get a share (until their natural predators come along).
For now, I have a plant pot with two different kinds of chillies. I love looking at them every day.
I love spicy food so I would like to have a chili garden. My wife use to grow jalepenos.
Also your mentioned living in the mountains. Mountains exude power and grace. It would be amazing to wake up to everyday.

Continuous anything is bad for health. You need a balance. If you are stressed then a break is a must.
Playing releases happy hormoes and sometimes satisfying ones. Hence, playing is the nice trampoline to jump high on your next adventure.

Few people in reality get out of difficult life conditions, so they retain to degrade. perhaps due to the fact they have no one to help, possibly they do now not have sufficient electricity for this.
I usually believed that the power to discover within each people, it should be capable of use and it must be capable of awaken. you're an example of this, and that i wish that many, on your instance, might be able to trade their lives.

We may be angry or stressed at the moment but it is good to find outlets for our anger and stress. That is why playing is much needed because it helps relieve alot of that.
This is a wonderful post! I am always looking for new ways to improve my life in all areas. I currently moved out to Las Vegas about 6 months ago and it is a great city. I’m originally from Houston but this city has so much to offer. The vegan food and options are outstanding, vast parks, people are friendly, numerous nature activities, beautiful scenery, etc. You would love it here! I appreciate your post and given value.
@daqueend Oh! Yea I was surprisingly blown away by the city when I went there. I really like how the city has life to it outside the strip. Most people only go to the strip when they visit. We visited the strip but honestly we spent the total of about 3 hours there. The other days we explored the city and tried to get a feel of what it was like.
Every since then I've been trying to convince my wife we should move there. It's pretty cheap compared to most places imo. But idk we'll see if the move happens. And I am actually from Brenham which is a small town about 35 minutes from Houston.
Yes I agree... most people only visit the strip when down here. Sadly that’s the only thing they know about Vegas but there is so much more to it. Most locals hardly venture to the strip, that’s primarily a hotspot for tourists. What I love is not only does the city offer a lot but it’s within great driving distance to California (back in Texas it would be like driving to louisiana, lol). About an hr north of here is a ski mountain. Practically every thrill seeking, nature type activity can be done here.
And yes it is very affordable to live here. Compared to Houston the only difference I notice is registration on vehicles and gas prices which can be slightly higher. Vegas is amazing! I love it here and I know if a lot of other people gave it a chance they would too.

Steemit relationships are good but face to face relationships are even better
This is something you have written so profound in the present context of our life. The days we have made intense relationship with electronic gadgets and somehow we are doing away from the face to face relationships with our friends, neighbours etc and this is ultimately killing our emotions and we are marching to a way of robot life these days which is not good for the mankind.

Yes there is a race to transhumanism. We have to protect our relationships and not allow machine to come between. Hopefully these machines are just helpers in our relationship and don't actually replace our human relationships. Well said by the way @shivohum2015.

The book is the best friend of the people. A friend or Aponjon sometimes happens, but the book will never deceive you.
Medical practitioners say that the practice of reading books to help keep the body healthy, helps the people very well. It may be a little difficult to believe though. But there is no doubt that there is a deep relationship between the book body and the psycho world. As a result, you will get physical and mental benefits while reading books.

At present, there are direct links to depression with the majority of new diseases that are suffering from the new generation. The habit of reading books helps in reducing such problems. Because, the mind is very quiet when reading books. As a result, mental stress starts to decrease. At the same time, the fear of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, etc. can be reduced.
I read an interesting article once about how reading slows the aging of the brain. I think there's truth to that. For me books are a whole new world of discovery and that's why I enjoy reading them.
Excellent advice, you are an example of such a person who on a personal example has proved that there is a way out of any situation and the main thing for this is to collect all your life resources in a fist and start them on the realization of the goal that in your case was a change in your life.
Now you have a wonderful life in which you can travel with your beloved wife, engage in creativity, and be a basketball player. - Excellent motivation for many to work that would also change their lives.
I also want to learn how to meditate, but the flow of thoughts does not allow me to get relaxed, but I'm working on it ..

I'm honored to be an example. I just feel bad for people who are pushed into jobs they hate. That's why I want to change the work narrative. What I mean is we as humans need to see our work as something we should enjoy and we should broaden our views of what work is. Work is not just a job you apply for.
When you say "man I hated leaving vegas" then it gives me a sense of relief that more people are joining to the liking of being vegan. So my respect for you.

According to a popular cliche, Health is Wealth. But I wouldn't really call this a cliche since I've tested it and found it to work so much as a medical practitioner in training. We should all shun activities which are detrimental to our health and hold on to positive activities such as regular exercise, good food and relaxing recreation. These give life to our spirit, soul and body. Nice post brother.

Wooden book series has an entire book on golden ratio,
I have it in my pile :)
Quadrivium doesn't cover that in so much detail as the standalone book does, but it is possibly the best book in the series for having so many things about math in our world ranging from sacred geometry in small scale to the golden section found in the orbits of planets in our solar system, as well as many other things such as harmonics, resonance, rhythm and honestly more than I can reasonably describe.
I think what really makes the wooden books stand out is that every page in every book covers a different topic but they all tie together seamlessly, and each page has these amazing hand drawn illustrations. You really can't go wrong buying these books and at their prices I think it's a great deal. I imagine if you get Quadrivium you will be like me and immediately try to get your hands on the other wooden books, because they're criminally underpriced ^_^

Scripture says for us to labour to enter into His rest (Hebrews 4:11).
That means we're to do our best to get to that point where we stop struggling. I believe that the more we rest, the more we reign in life.
God doesn't want us stressed and worked up. He wants to see us living from a mental disposition of rest.

Hi @humanearl, I agree that overworking is a killer in modern society. That is even more so in Asian countries. In fact the term karoshi was coined from Japan and it simply means death due to overwork.
Happy to see you regaining your health. I noticed you are quite active with blogging and I have started to follow you!
I am familiar with that term. I heard that was a major problem in Asian countries like you said. Once I even looked up the average hours people worked a day based on their country and many Asian countries led that list.

When I read this, what comes to mind is BALANCE!
We need to work with joy, but we cannot do that if we are overworked.
If we do not have enough exercise, enough fun, or enough amusement, we will become healthy.
And, even a thing that is fun for us will become work or even drudgery if we are doing it too often, with too much pressure, or with too much intensity.

The system is designed to do the exact opposite. No balance, very little to no exercise, drudgery, and overwork.
I want to change the narrative and help others to see that it can be done.
