The only way to big success as an entrepreneur is massive action.
So anyone as busy as a person running their own business knows it's easy to get burned out. But it's also just as easy to avoid!
Hi Steemians, I'm @holsturr.
TLDR: Burnout's effects are counterproductive - you lose more than you gain. You can avoid lost time and diminishing returns with completely disengaging asides combined with time management.
Pushing to the point of burnout is almost never worth the costs, especially over long periods of time.
A business and its operators must always avoid waste. At best, burnout leads to diminished returns on time and effort, and at worst leads to defunct operations. But the effects of burnout spread to more than just business or work; they can affect family and relationships as well as quality of life overall.
What's the easiest way to avoid burnout?
You have to completely disengage from your work or business, and the easiest way to do it - and remember to do it - is to make a list.
Without thinking, write a list of 5 things that automatically come to you when you think "relaxing" or "exciting."
Side note: this list can be very revealing if you really adhere to the automatic part. When a person is not getting what they want out of life, the reason(s) why might be hidden in plain sight on this very list.
For me, it became difficult to disengage unless I wrote down the things that I could disengage with. With the frayed thoughts and thinking that burnout imparts, it was hard to remember to disengage in the first place - much less be capable of enjoying the benefits of disengaging - especially if the activity requires some forethought and preparation, like cooking or going on a trip.
Early in my journey of learning how successful people become (and stay) successful, I heard a lot about taking the time to write out goals and lists like the one discussed here on a daily basis.
I thought the "magic" of updating and keeping fresh lists (or drawings, pictures, magazine cutouts, etc.) on paper every day was hokum, or at the very least, tedious. But, from myself as a former skeptic's experience, daily listmaking really can and will keep you focused, refreshed, and ready to execute.
Make sure to disengage from work to avoid burnout, and keep a daily list of 5 things to disengage with. The benefits more than make up for lost work time!
💰✨Remember… Every single person is their own trusted expert and seeking to promote yourself in that role is vital today, now more than ever.
