Introducing Mia, the newest member of holoz0r's household!

in #life7 years ago

Last Saturday, we went to the animal shelter to look at cats. Last October, we planned on getting one. It took a while to get the house feline prepared. Last Saturday, we fell in love with Mia.

Mia is five years old, and arrived at the animal shelter after being removed from deplorable living conditions. She has many medical problems, the most disappointing of which is her lack of teeth. Mia has advanced gingivitis, and requires a special diet of wet food as a result. She's also previously had cat flu; and as a result her vocal chords are wrecked. She tries to trill, but she ends up sounding like a tiny house panther.

She loves to purr. Mia was chosen as our rescue kitten for a number of reasons - firstly, she's an older cat, and they tend to not get adopted as often as the young kittens that are full of energy and mischief.

She was very affectionate and clumsy, rolling off her perch in the enclosure at the animal shelter a few times while I got acquainted with her. Finally; she required an indoor only home, which is perfect; given the fact that our house backs onto a lake where there are ducks, ibis (bin chickens) and swamp hens which would certainly be extinct if Mia was allowed to roam outside.

Because we live in Australia, if Mia was to venture outside for too long as a white cat, she would get cancer of the ear and nose due to the searing Australian death bringing UV radiation from the sun. Mia is settling in well, and is, as usual, shunning cat related purchases, instead deciding to venture into the boxes they came in. She is functioning correctly.

Finally, a potato quality image of Mia:

Sort:

She looks healthy tho but a bit grumpy on the last capture :D

She was kneading in the last image. Probably thinking "why is this person taking shoving a device in my face."

Nicely done ,You have done a great favor to this cat and i'm sure she will pay you back .Treat her as a free spirit and take care of her .
I'm new to this community ,Followed and upvoted , hope to see more quality posts from you in the near future.

Hi little moggy! Great job guys, giving an older cat a loving home, you are my kind of people. All the best for you and your new furry little friend!

@holoz0r, she's a beautiful cat. I can't imagine what she's thinking to be in a loving home. You are both blessed to have each other.

awww Mia is so cute, it is hard for older cats to adapt to new environments I am glad she is doing great at her new home. :)

I love how she looks at the pictures saying "man are you serious another picture can't you get enough of my beauty right"? lol
