RE: How to Achieve “Big” in Life

in #life7 years ago (edited)

I'd like to "zero in on" the section you wrote on potential and purpose. This is the key. So many are overwhelmed with nihilistic self-doubt. We're all naturally gifted, whether we recognize this fact or not. We all come in with our own specific brand of innate talent (which reveals itself to us through our personal passions and hobbies). Rarer, however, is the commitment to its cultivation. The thoughts, opinions, and expectations projected upon us by others can cloud our perception. We allow hiccups and bumps in the road to discourage and dissuade us from cultivating those inherent gifts.

This can lead us down that dark road of falsely believing that life is meaningless and that we have no real role to play. We might even be intimidated by all of the competition, since there are already so many incredible voices out there. But that's just the thing: Variety exists for a reason! Potential is unlimited, so it can't be contained in one individual alone. And yet, in this sea of limitlessness, there's only one you. No one else can be you, and another you can never come again. Of all the possible combinations that could come into existence as a human being, you came along. Without you, the garden would be incomplete. Because of you, and your one-of-a-kind vision, the world is whole. And who would I be without you?!
