Incredible Christmas - Christmas truce 1914
In 24 December 1914 on western front, in the vicinity of Ypres the only reconciliation of soldiers in WW1 took place. Germans decorated trenches in Christmas decorations and started started singing Christmas carols and then opposite side joined. On 25 December, soldiers of both sides left the trenches. the commanders agreed armistice up to December 26th at 8:30. There were also presents - the Germans gave the British a barrel of fuel and the British paid back the gift and give the pudding. The fun fact is that soldiers played a football match which were won by germans 3:2 when the ball broke through the barbed wire. When the ceasefire ended, the soldiers did not resume fighting for some time. Unfortunately, it was the only case of reconciliation throughout the World War I...
