The living room, the place where you can find most of the entrance doors, the door of your house, your home, your comfort zone. Imagine now you arriving at your home after a long and tiring day of work, you open your door and the first thing you see is this area that is so cozy and special...
But why is this place so special? Maybe because your TV is in it, your video game, or maybe because there is where you have your second biggest home friend, your couch! (yes it is the second, one day I will tell you what is the greatest friend in your house...)
Couch, my dear couch, if you could talk...
Imagine how many stories it would have about us, the times we arrived exhausted and lay in it with a tired body and headache, with relief of having arrived, and with thoughts of what tomorrow will be like.
If you're home now, do me a favor: Look at your couch, quickly, just a look, if necessary, get up and go take a look, then come back and continue reading...
I hope you have given at least a little look, why does this decor item deserve your respect? Follow me as I explain.
Stop to think right now, has it seen you cry? With some movie or something that happened in your life? Has it ever seen you laugh? Scandalous laughter (like a pig) that flee from our control when we watch that hilarious comedy or maybe some story that someone that came up told you? Did the couch ever see you upset about something that was not working? Angry maybe, while you thought about how your boss is a jerk, or how do you hate your job? I would like you to stop and think about how many emotions your couch has seen you have.
The couch is in this common area called the living room, where you spend a lot of time when you are at home, and it is precisely in the room that you receive people, your living room shows people how your life is, who you are... This room, in particular, is the most intimate, personal and revealing business card in the world!
Attention to the details of your room. The deco objects represent or show things that are important in your life and that you are proud to show, maybe photos of your family and loved ones, it can be a trophy that you won or crazy electronic gadgets. The size of your TV can reveal the proportion of your greed or the size of your salary.
Is your room organized or messy? Colorful or simple? Is it really the way you want it to be or did you just decorated thinking in how other people would see and judge it?
How to make your living room comfortable as a hug?
Imagine you're a room, what would this room look like? Well decorated, full of colors, plants, and life? Or simple, minimalist? With ancient objects maybe? Sparing space? maybe a sofa bed? Carpets from other cultures from around the world? Center table? How about a coffee machine right in the middle of the room on the center table? A beautiful chessboard?
Only you know how you really are, what do you like, what you admire, your values and principles...
Your living room should represent this, do not plan design thinking about on how others would like it to be. See your living room as the mirror of you! Your visitors will see who you really are and you will always be perfectly comfortable, because after all, your living room is you, embracing and comforting you in good and bad times.
I see many people spending a lot of money decorating the living room for simple status because they want to "make a good impression." Big mistake, the best impression is always your impression. Your room should be comfortable as a hug, your hug...
Thanks a lot to you for reading, if you liked, sharing in only one of your social networks would help the blog to grow a lot and more people take a few minutes to think about this...
Stay cozy, Jonatan.
