Books that changed my life series Blog#3 Law of Success

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Today I will continue on our journey by breaking down the second law of success as outlined by Napoleon Hill. I hope you enjoy this summary and that it provides you some value that you can take with you and use in your daily life. I appreciate your time reading my posts and I look forward to bringing you more value moving forward!

The Second Law of Success

A Definite Chief Aim

"A good encyclopedia contains most of the known facts of the world, but they are useless as sand dunes until organized and expressed in terms of action." -N. Hill

Hill begins the chapter by making a pretty big and bold promise which is as follows: Through the mastery and application of the laws you can get whatever you want "within reason". As we make our way through this book you will see how all the laws stack and interact with one another. And when you look for yourself at successful people and companies you will begin to see these laws at work.
Before we get into what a chief aim is and how to create one Hill lays the foundation buy defining some key components I want to share with you. Firstly, is the idea of power. He says "power is organized energy or effort.
For me it looks like this, Idea+Plan+Action=POWER. For me success is developing this concept to get what ever I want in my life! I have since found a way to actually measure my power. By adding the component of time, I can better gauge where I'm at. So the faster my idea goes from my mind to the physical world the more power I have harnessed. Conversely when an idea has stalled or is taking too much time, I look at what element or law is being under used or not being applied and put it in.
Okay, so lets break this idea of power down even further. The first component is to have an idea. Hill says, "when coming up with your idea it's important to write it down. The act of writing down what you think or dream prompts your mind to make leaps of insight and spontaneously create original ideas or revisions." I personally enjoy adding collaging to this phase, not only write down what it is I want but to actually begin to see pictures of what it is I am creating. I like to hang this up on my wall like art as a daily reminder to my sub conscious of what I am manifesting. I will later do a post to share some powerful collaging techniques that I have learned over the years, so please be on the look out for that!

Next, is this idea of a definite chief aim what is that exactly? I think Andrew Carnegie had a great way of stating it: "Place all of your eggs in one basket and then watch the basket to see that no one kicks it over!" In other words, once you find your definite chief aim (your vision) do not waste any energy by engaging in other ideas. This will only lead you to dilute your power over what you are looking to create. Some great examples are:
Ray Kroc concentrated on hamburgers and made Mc Donalds into the worlds most successful restaurant.
Martin Luther King Jr. concentrated on civil rights and led racial equality froward in America.
Bil Gates concentrated on software and became America's richest person.
Oprah Winfrey concentrated on becoming a successful TV broadcaster, got her own talk show, created her own network, and became the wealthiest woman in media!

For me, I think of a definite chief aim as having three separate components. First one is having a clear vision. Second, is having a burning desire to see it manifest (the emotion). And lastly an organized effort using your master mind. (see yesterday's post to read more on master mind as it is not a support group like it is commonly referred to in these times https://steemit.com/life/@ground2feet/books-that-changed-my-life-series-blog-2-law-of-success).

My invitation to you is, if you don't already have a chief aim for your life, find out what inspires you. Allow yourself to dream and think big. Let your purpose find you!
