Wow, this hits home! Family and friends always tell me that i am way too naive and that people will take advantage of it. I am aware that people can be very selfish but still, i'm convinced that humans are good by nature and that their heart is pure.. even if you have to dig very deep. I will still keep caring for other people, because i just think it is the right thing to do, not necessarily because i want them to care back. thanks for sharing :)

you're right. the trick is to give without expecting anything in return.
this way, if you do get something in return, it's a nice bonus! if not, you weren't expecting it, anyway :)
