There are so many blessings of God that we can't even count them in one day, or even in a week. One of them is to the ability to think like a normal human being. There are some people who are mentally disable and some are though look like normal human being but they lack the capability of thinking like a normal person.
Today, I met with the same kind of person, Abdul Rauf, who wasn't mentally disabled but his mind wasn't sharp and couldn't work like a normal person but he spent his life with dignity and honor. Let's have a look at his life!
1) Where were you born and how was your childhood?
I was born in Lahore, near Walton. My father had a small toy shop. We were 6 brothers and had 2 daughter. I was actually the weakest of all when it comes to understanding things or playing with the normal boys. I never went to a doctor as my family was of the view that going to a doctor for any mental illness wasn't a good sign for the family and God also prohibits that, so I remain a lonely boy throughout my childhood.
2) Oh, so how did you handle the society?
It was tough, I remember when I went to school and wasn't able to read or write for almost 2 years. My family tried everything except for the medical checkup and I failed. I actually couldn't remember things correctly. I used to forget everything in the next second and everything got blank when I had tried to remember anything, so I had to leave the school!
3) So how are you able to remember your childhood at this age?
Well, there are so many things that I have forgotten but yes, there are some memories that never go away from your mind and I can never forget the hardships I had to face due to the disability of my mind. Not a single child was willing to play with me and they used to call me "Majnoo" (Dumb). However, with the passage of time, I made some improvements as far as remembering the things were concerned but still I was far behind the children of my age.
4) How did you spend your life then?
My mother was of the view that I would get better after marriage, so I married with my cousin but soon she left me. After that, there was no hope left. Even many of my father's friends advised him to consult with a doctor but he refused to do so, so my life continued on the same pattern!
5) That's sad, so what did you do to earn money?
I learned the skill of making clay toys from my father and I still sell them. Though, in this modern era, children are more attracted to some modern toys and games but the poor people who can't afford such expensive toys buy from me and I am earning enough to feed myself and my 110 years old father.
6) Oh, that's nice. Your father is still alive? Don't your brothers take care of him?
No, 2 of them have died and the remaining 3 are busy with their family. Though my father didn't treat me well, he always preferred his other children over me on every occasion but still he is my father and it's my responsibility to take care of him. I sometimes think that I might have been a normal person after the treatment people's suggested my father but that's how God had written my fate. Living a life alone is very tough and it becomes more difficult when your own family members don't want to understand and accept the truth. But now, I have made myself very clear not to blame anyone for my situation, that's how some people are born and may be any parents, after knowing my life would start taking care of his child who is in the same situation. Everything happens for good!

Oh the irony, of the story title, '...unsuccessful persons'!
Sadly, the parameter of success has been set by material gains and social standing.
Abdul Khaiq has managed to live honestly and has shown dedication to his father; if not him then who is successful?
When I first started this series, my aim was to highlight people who even after doing hard work in their lives couldn't get success, wanted to find the reasons, so that's why I named it "Untold Stories of Unsuccessful persons" and yes, to me, the success is all about getting rich, wealth and money, living a comfortable life. I myself tried hard throughout my life to get this life but still struggling.
You are absolutely right, parameter of success should not be measured in wealth but you will also agree that people of this world don't care about anyone's honesty or character, people give respect to those who are well settled in their lives.
Thanks for reading my post, looking forward to some more healthy criticism from your side!
