Put A $0.50 Smile on A Person's Face, They Will Appreciate It; Whoever you can render help to, do it because that person is your neighbour and you do not know how much you have saved a life

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Let me tell you something wonderful, I can identify with suffering and poverty in this country. Do not ask that question like "but he is a steemian", never forget that there was a life before steem. I can identify with eating one meal a day, from 0-1-0, 0-0-1, 1-0-0, style of eating (Some people will understand) to eating 0 - biscuit (#10) - 0. I know what it is to eat beans for a year as your major food and eat rice only during festive periods, I can identify with student who put on torn uniform to school, not because they are rough but because they have been wearing the uniform for years and they do not have the money to buy another.

I can tell you categorically that poverty is not a good thing. When a person is sick and goes to the hospital, the doctors do their diagnosis and tell the reasons for the illness but when a poor person goes to the hospital, he/she is diagnosed and they are said to have all kind of illnesses, yes they will be told they have all kind of disease because poverty itself is the original pathogen. When poverty is the source pathogen, it gives birth to high blood pressure, malaria, typhoid, measles and all kind of diseases, if you think I'm telling lies then ask WHO to show you a picture of a rich person with polio, malaria or any of those diseases.

I can tell you that it doesn't give joy to the adolescent child hawking on the street but she has no choice. I was chatting with a young lady and I asked her why she is not in the school and she gave me a simple answer "I will go to school if I can eat twice daily". That is touching I guess.

WHAT YOU CAN DO To HELP

"Whoever you can render help to, do it because that person is your neighbour and you do not know how much you have saved a life"

Your $0.50 can put a food on the table of a poor person, it will put a smile on their faces and make them happy.

You might be wondering how you can be of help with $0.50. That little amount of money can save a life, have you ever taking your time to see what $0.50 can get, well I will leave the mathematics to you to do.

"Whoever you can render help to, do it because that person is your neighbour and you do not know how much you have saved a life"

Poverty is a curse to humanity we all need to come together and help the poor even if its 0.9$ it will go along well nice words @gbenga

Honestly, it cost just a little to put a smile on someone's face? Try it & watch how it uplifts YOU even more! @gbenga thank You for sharing this 👏👏👏👏

A warm smile is the universal language of kindness - William Ward

A little kindness goes a long way.

yes, it does

Food for thought for us all.

The west successfully made necessary things available for their poor but African is a different playing field where greed reigns supreme hence poverty.

the change can begin from us brother.

I have been there
Its a road no one wisg to journey on
Helping people should be a daily task to those capable
No matter how little

you are right.

Africa can sometimes be tough folks.I identify with what you have written...eating a single meal a day!

I remember in primary school here in Uganda,we used not to have lunch so we could just climb trees to look for mangoes, guavas etc..

I remember one day I was on my usual lunch of looking for ripe mangoes, when I fell off the tree.
I injured my lower lips and have a scar til now....Will never forget that fall.

As you said we need to keep helping folks out there.
Thanks to Steemit I will be able to start visiting charities sometime next year to give back.

I am glad you have a good intention, steem on brother.

Help flows on out of a heart full of love for one another. We have to first of all love our neighbors then, we will extend help to them especially this season of Christmas, when we remember the ultimate gift of God (his son) let's give and give and give we are God's extended hands. Thanks for this nice piece @gbenga

thanks for coming around.

"I will go to school if I can eat twice daily" - that line really touched me.

yeah........

It's good to help people.
Thanks for sharing @gbenga

my pleasure

Poverty is the source of pathogen ... well said

We never know how many lives we are saving with the little help we render to people. Let us try and put a smile on people face always. Thanks for the advice sir

Very good blog @gbenga

Re-steemed

Yes let us do our bit to put smiles on faces and make this season a beautiful one for them. Thank you boss for sharing

You know, there's this feeling you get from giving to people who truly need help. Understanding that the person could die without the help you just rendered gives you a new perspective on life itself. Imagine working in a hospital and a woman brings her little boy into the hospital; you see that the kid is just barely clinging to life. Some people would ask for payment before service, 'cause this is what our world has turned into...putting money before human life (which is priceless by the way). Why not save the life and worry about payment later... It's a life. Nothing else is worth more than that. When I try to help, I get scoffed at but then the joy seeing a little sick kid wake up and smile at you makes it all worth it. We all should really try to render help to people whenever we can. Awesome post @gbenga

Great post @gbenga. There are a lot of people that can't afford three-square meals a day, not to talk of education and necessities. I just started a community development project in Bwari, Abuja for young children and teenagers. Want to give my quota back as a youth Corp member. More details coming soon.
