That's a really great analogy; the whole comment is spot on actually.
It all comes down to ownership. I own (created) the community this user posted into and because of that, I take ownership of how it presents and ensure that the guidelines I've set are followed. This user spazzed out needlessly and his account on Hive is a rotting carcass because of it. My community continues.
This is a really one of the reasons I don't have mods or admins; I don't want to subject them to this sort of obsessive and abusive behaviour needlessly. I, on the other hand, can handle it.
I wonder how many meltdowns I'd get to study if I created a community where the only rule is: If you post here without asking for permission first, you will be muted and downvoted instantly.
I wouldn't mind creating something more like an online magazine, rather than a free-for-all. Would the simple act of me saying, "No," trigger a meltdown? I'd put my money on yes, me saying NO would trigger a meltdown.
Endless smear campaign. I noticed awhile back some becoming reluctant to run their communities out of fear of smear. This year was a real eye-opener though and I'm glad some chose to meltdown, leave a nasty trail of breadcrumbs, then all congregate in one space and incriminate themselves. They're just crying wolf and each new meltdown follows the same pattern, plus the blockchain backs up the evidence. For instance one guy now boasts about his negative rep when attempting to smear this platform or the people. If any outsider not familiar with the case actually looks in, they'll see months and months of him being aggressive and obnoxious, nothing else. Maybe someone too lazy to look or more keen on accepting face value will take his side. Maybe someone that prefers an echo chamber or is naturally intellectually lazy would take his side. The smart ones with integrity would not. They'd see right through it, come here, and we've got a keeper, plus they know if someone starts messing with them, potential consequences exist.
Can't let the Karens of this world take over. Especially not this early on web 3.0 whatever let's change the world phase. I hate buzzwords but you know what I mean. Can't be on the cutting-edge of anything if spoiled brats are at the helm. Need strong personalities able to adapt.
Lol, the need permission community. I love it. (I assume I don't need permission to lol at the suggestion.)
Perception becomes the reality to those who don't delve into the nuts and bolts of the situation and, as we all know, information, right or wrong, can carry weight. Add to this the other things we've mentioned, above and it's not a good/wholesome/productive mix..but their hubris and ego will tell them it is.
With the world/society as it is, entitled and selfish, people like those over there are becoming more prevalent I think. There's little accountability shown and a lot of hubris. Everyone else but them is responsible for their losses, state of being or whoever; never the person themselves. Par for the course.
The funny thing is, they think they're burning brightly, that's hubris and ego, but at some stage the fall happens. It always happens. Let this amirl character get his rocks off by downvoting me and surrounding himself with like-minded people. He'll have to pay the ferryman at some point. With money invested in blurt, he may not have the fare. 🤣
That drop is inevitable. And if it isn't a humbling experience, that means there's still more room to fall.
Ice Cube said it best. Check yourself before you wreck yourself.
It's too bad I wasn't around. I might have been able to get through to him. Those others are far too gone; he's now on the cusp it seems. Can view all this as some massive insult and play the victim card to impress people on the way down. Or he can look closely and read between the lines. But I did look in and see there were others who tried to help as well and I guess that fell on deaf ears. Where I stand in these situations now, if someone only wants to dig their hole deeper, I'll hand them the shovel. Still helping...
Thanks for looking into it, and yes, people other than I tried to help. When that help was not accepted, and the ranting began, the same people downvoted. He blames me though, even despite knowing he, himself, was/is to blame. Again, typical. If people want to make others out as the villain, to them, that person will be the villain to the other. But, that doesn't mean the person actually is.
Seen it happen countless times dude. It's happened to me. Seen it happen to people I know. Seen it happen to people I don't know. Seen it happen here, other social networks, and in life. It all boils down to smearing; in general the smear is a tool used by narcissists. Having trouble getting through? That's probably why...
I know what and who I am, just as we all do; the good amongst us, and the bad.
Yeah man. Usually when folks come at me with some bullshit all I can do is sit back and be grateful someone would be so generous by offering me that much leverage to use when picking them apart. The bullshit tells you all you need to know about them, and proves they know next to nothing about you. Stay calm and coast along.
Patience is a good hobby. I still lose my shit from time to time but I've come a long way. The power and the patience to persevere, is the only thing I've asked for for the past several years. With that, you can do anything.
