You would be welcomed into somebody's house with about 3 picture albums.
They were usually not well preserved so most would be falling apart and you had to be careful while going through them not to cause further damage.
One of your hosts would sit with you and give an explanation of each as you went through page by page. They would be like "This is my brother who lives in the USA with his wife and two kids, Andrew and Carol" .. and so on and so forth. And you would nod politely as you went through even though you forgot who was who as soon as you turned the next page.
By the time you were done with the albums, the tea and bread was ready or lunch etc.
We typically had one photographer who took a whole week to process the pictures and then there was a lot of excitement when he (Never a she) would bring them back finally to see how you looked like. Sunday was the day usually set aside for photos because we were usually in our Sunday best..after church:-)
I wonder what happened to all the picture albums after we all went digital!
