"Job Security"...Has Become Like a Thing of the Past

in #life7 years ago (edited)

As a result of globalization, outsourcing, contracting, downsizing, recession and even natural disaster, we live with a lack of job security..!

The only job security we have today is our commitment to continuous personal improvement..!

We can create the ultimate job security by becoming less dependent on the organization for which we work and more dependent on our own resources.

We need to embrace change before someone force upon us More faster the better..

Please share your views on how to deal with the uncertainty!!

We should focus on continuous learning, add new skills and have a vision of the future and always stay relevant either to work for somebody or stay self employed.

Read book 'BUSINESS AS A GAME' by Alfred Z Carr. Out of print now. (Available in Amazon at $ 20 old copy) Gives guidance to young managers to consider their jobs as their 'business' to take care!

Avoid sentimentality and says 'loyalty' overused! Employee expected to be 'loyal' but is Company 'loyal'!

Build solid career skills. In today's job market, the technical skills you need can change quickly.

So, develop your nontechnical skills as well. Look at your track record of being adaptable, your organizational skills (time management, team management, and leadership), and your people skills.

keeping a positive attitude can make all the difference!!

There is no security in job so to over come from this issue one needs to be best in his or her job . But still the security is not 100%.. So to be secure one need to have other source of income. From where passive income can be generated.

You have to stay up to date with advances in your industry and/or function, and form your own opinions about what works and what doesn't.

No one is going to hire you just because you have 20 years of experience. Companies are going to hire you because they like the way you think.

yes! Keep imporving yourself. btw companies do hire you because of your experience as long as you fit in their plan and indeed their way of thinking :)

Companies hire today based on results. Thus, the best thing you can do is get into a profession where you can PROVE your results.

I graduated with an accounting degree...hated it.

Started writing marketing pieces on the side that did well...leveraged those pieces to get hired by clients all over the world.

If you're in a job, you need to find a way to 'support' yourself alone. Pretend you lost your job and needed money now.

Turn off Game of Thrones and get to work!
