Is there such a thing as a selfless act? An act where self is not benefiting may be a very noble and good act, however is this act selfless? If one feels good when they help others, and genuinely enjoy helping others are they not following self interests? I think it can only be considered selfless, if one does not feel any happiness from this act.
Is it possible an act is selfless if you dont benefit and dont feel good after this all the time? Well often people in those situations may feel obligated for one reason or another(children, contracts, or any other moral obligation one may feel). This act although might not be emjoyable, is not self less because ones self feels obligated by contract or morality. That means they for self interest of contract or following a moral code do the act.
I cant really find many cases of selfless acts, if anyone thinks they can describe a situation which an act is selfish, comment.
