PRETTY GIRL PRIVILEGE: A Myth Or An Actual Thing?

in #life7 years ago

You know how fulfilling it is having to work for something without sweating it all out? Like you know to achieve or get a particular task done, you'd have to go through a lot of stress and hassle but then, here comes this day when you didn't have to lift a finger before getting things done. Now, allow me be gender specific.

Being female sucks most times, all thanks to patriarchy and the rhetoric that centers on women's fragility and the superiority of men. We live in a society where women have to put in double or triple efforts in order to achieve a feat as opposed to the male gender. So trust me when I say being female sucks and could become wearisome due to patriarchy and biological factors - monthly periods that gets accompanied by a bout of menstrual cramps, prenatal and postnatal experiences, hormonal fluctuations, menopausal syndromes, etc.

However, just being a woman, a pretty one at that could have it's fun side. How refreshing and satisfactory to know that we get favours and privileges without having to sweat it out atimes, not often but a few times. Being given an advantage or preferential treatment over others based on your appearance and charm by men, often times and women, seldom times.

I've had to walk into stores to pick up a few items only to get to the payment point and see a long line of people but then I didn't have to wait for a second before a man let me cut him in line. Or having totally unfamiliar faces offering to pay for my food or items or getting half off discounts on purchases. I know a friend in Uni who got A's in assignments she never turned in, lol. Some even get jobs, contracts, without having to go through the selection stage as others! That's a whole high level of privilege...

I'm all for working and channelling all efforts into getting work done and being rewarded based on individual achievements without any form of bias or preferential treatment, however, I really could do with a little dose of girl privilege once in a while! So tell me ladies , have you being favored based on your appearance or charisma? I wanna read your comments! And also men, have you had to favor a lady based on her physical features? You tell me!

Yes , I know what you mean! I had some privelege experience, too. Often man tried to invite me on a dinner or drink. But most of the time I turned it down because I feel not comfortable to take something from another person and not having to give anything in return... Well, except my boyfriend^^ He can invite me on anything he want (Of course from time to time I am doing the same;))

As a man, we get the privileges too. For me, it is usually for my creative mind than for my looks. Having to help in understanding complicated assignments... Some of us have to work hard for it. I have offered to help on the basis of beauty and physical appearance. It isn't a bad thing to do. The world is not a fair place to live in. Even God says He will have mercy on whom he chooses. Hahahaha.
