Is the Proposed "New STEEM" Initiative Actually Worth Discussing?

in #life5 years ago

There have been many various strategic campaigns implemented in the past, to not only push up the price of STEEM but also to uplift the general branding of our digital token. Whilst it has mostly been met with tepid success, the newest charge comes in the form of promoting STEEM as almost a new kind of token. To spread awareness that the old image of "circle jerks" or "company failures" are now simply a thing of the past. Sound good in theory, but how important is this rallying call at this particular juncture of the STEEM blockchain's history?

In a word, I would say "extremely"! Given where we are now compared to what we were advertising six months ago, the turnaround has been nothing short of spectacular. However, I've felt that for some time now, our resurgence has fallen on deaf ears in regards to the outside crypto communities. And given that this market is almost solely driven on speculation for now, I'd say its absolutely imperative we have a sizable rebranding campaign to change old stale mindsets out there.

Is it the most important aspect to STEEM's ultimate triumph from the ashes? I reckon so at the moment, just ahead of development. But don't get me wrong. Without the stellar efforts of that talented bunch of Steemains who are responsible for helping shape the eco-system we have today, there'd be almost nothing for us to promote! Just the very fact we have this much to advertise means the persuasion factor is considerably lessened for selling the product of STEEM to other third parties. So yes, I do think at this point, we most definitely need eyes on the work that's being done here. That seems like it's a priority, to me at least.

But as always, the messenger also plays a key role in all this. Just like the masses "will" wake up to what crypto even is, courtesy of Facebook's Libra token in 2020, we also need to have a relevant voice at the helm, preferably those that will be heard. Obvious choices are Steemit Inc. (as most people outside of STEEM associate them with everything the blockchain is) as well as @aggroed and yabapmatt for their phenomenal contributions, for starters. But the great thing is that I see that happening already. The two Steem Monsters creators are working tirelessly in terms of promoting their achievements and getting word out of why STEEM is easily one of the best blockchain that exist today. I'm also very impressed with @elipowell and the new transparency offered up by Steemit Inc. in regards to all they're doing to "Make STEEM Great Again!" All in all, things are looking pretty good now.

So yes, this latest New STEEM approach to bringing in new users, is an excellent idea in terms of purpose and timing. I think there is a good chance we could all yet come out of this unscathed, even with the price as low as it is. Our marketcap has been dropping steadily and we are sitting just under position 80. Many are now speaking of us falling out of the top 100 soon. Very similar rhetoric to when STEEM was 7 cents and almost everybody here at the time, had their buy orders at a cent. Well, look how that turned out. Lightening certainly can strike twice. I, for one, am counting on it.
