Vlog 291: My 1-year vlogging anniversary is coming up this month.

in #life6 years ago (edited)

My 1-year vlogging anniversary is coming up this month.

So I was going through some of my old vlogs to hear my thoughts and ideas I had back then about the Steem blockchain.

For old times sake this vlog is on youtube :)

I calculated back then that $3-$4 STEEM would be the dream for me because I could then live of curation alone (150 STEEM a week).

I also say that earning STEEM would be harder and harder in the future and that the people that powered down (back then) would never be able to earn the STEEM back in the future by blogging.

I also look forward to communities and I mention that I would like to try Steepshot iOS (but it wasn't released yet).

I was partly right about things.

Curation rewards have gone down and 150 is no longer correct. It's gone down to around 75, even though I have more SP now.

The amount of STEEM you earn though blogging has gone down a lot and I was right. Earning powered down STEEM back by blogging alone has proven to be impossible.

Communities I still look forward too and Steepshot iOS has of-course been released and it's fantastic.

I talk about it more in my vlog.

Here are two old vlogs were I talk about these ideas.

Steem and why you should keep it. (14-5-2017)

Vlog #5: Omg he's in his car, STEEM + financial freedom. from @4:06. (18-5-2017)

I am a witness with our developer group @blockbrothers for the Steem blockchain. If you want to support us I would appreciate your vote here.

We build Steemify a notification app for your Steemit account for iOS.

I have been following your vlogs everyday for a while now. I must say that all the hopes and opinions you had one year ago are maybe the ones that I personally have today. We are still on a very early stage, I think that if you keep your vests for a very long term (10/15 years) you could probably benefit a lot more than cashing out whenever the price goes up , considering a potential user base of hundreds of millions if not even billions of people on Steem in the future and the inflation decreasing every year, if today a post can give you 10/15 SP tomorrow could give you 0.1/0.15 but if the price of Steem increases as well you basically earn the same amount of rewards in dollar valuation, theoretically this makes perfect sense.

Yes! (And that's not even considering SMT's).

I am late to your blog @exyle and that partly due to my newbie status.

I got here at your birthday post, that giant saliva seducing steak you prepare, if only technology had solved sending packages through phones.

I am hooked to your blog onwards. And this is the kind of post I like too. In the future we'll all look to such and said 'we know it.'

Congrats in advance to your 1 year blogging anniversary.

Whenever I feel down when my post don't garner enough attention, I look up to the steemit header and the 'beta' replenishes my energy.

The best is yet to come and though it is hard earning presently, we are not late to the party.

Did you also consider the option that Steem won't exist over 2 years?
Or that the price drops close to zero, which is more or less the same. Of course we all think and hope it will remain, but what if it doesn't?

What do you think about that?

Congratulations @exyle on completing 1-year vlogging anniversary on this great platform and posting Day in, day out, every day without fail , is in itself is a big achievement and being generous at the same time. Hats off!

Thanks, man!

@exyle,
You did few smart moves in STEEMIT platform and Vlogging is one of the best move of them! I wish STEEM will rise to 2 figure value in near future! Then you might be a millionaire of course :D

Cheers~

Happy advance vlogging anniversary @exyle! I hope it will be a great vlogging day for you :)

Wow are you Nostradamus' descendant? A lot of things you have said have come true. Yes curation has gone down and you need some SP now to get anywhere through blogging. I wonder what Steem will hold in the future. Yes I think Steemit can attract a lot of users, but can we retain these users. The reward pool only benefits whales and dolphins with big followings and the ability to pay for bid bots. We need an effective minnow support system or Steemit could die in the long term. We need more decentralization!

Your blog has been one of the best ever man!, I remember when I found your vlog 9 months back and how I have grown on Steemit with. I have learn much and some good life style from.

I also say that earning STEEM would be harder and harder in the future and that the people that powered down (back then) would never be able to earn the STEEM back in the future by blogging.

I remember those words, when u said it back then and I even have some writing on my note pad.

I don't think i could ever miss a vlog in a day from you.
Weldone @exyle keep on your work, your vlog has keep me moving.

I like Youtube videos better but I bet you lose some money loading to Youtube instead of Dtube.

Mark good VLOG today and Congratulations on your coming One Year Anniversary..........@exyle there have been so many great applications that have come to STEEMIT in the past Year, but I think the BEST is coming in the Year ahead. (SMT's) and easier sign UP process for NOOBs. Keep doing what you are doing most people enjoy your postings and like me look forward to them everyday.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to SMT's a lot!

I also say that earning STEEM would be harder and harder...

Yes, you are right. This makes totally sense. That’s why I said “we have to work even harder now” when Steem dipped down to $1.70 not so long ago. You can check my comment to your Vlog. Instead, I saw many people powering down, stopping posting. I also said “it’s all in our brains 🧠 “. Most people react based on their emotions, when it’s down, their thoughts are taken down as well. I hoped we could get as low as $1.00 just like your buying point was. But I guess it’s already past the point. I’m looking forward steemit future and your Vlogs!
BTW: happy anniversary in advance!

Congratulation. It seems you grew a lot over the years. I also learn a lot from your vlogs and posts. I believe we are still in early phase regarding STEEM, so we can all be enthusiastic about the future.

I was barely around when you first started doing this, it is astonishing how fast time passes but we still deem it as infinite.

How quickly time has passed my friend @exyle! You've been persevering in your work and you've accomplished a lot.

As you say, it's getting harder and harder to win Steem over on the blogs. The only way to win Steems in the future I think it will be by trading cryptom currencies, because here at Steemit there will be very little reward.

But well, anyway.... Keep up the good work. Think about how you're going to celebrate your first year of vlog anniversary hahaha. When's the anniversary?

Yay!!! Congratulations my friend. Where’s the party at ? We’ve got to Party you know. I wish you many more happy years of blogging and vlogging. Keep touching lives my friend

I still remember your vlogs from almost a year ago ^_^ love them. And you could easily be my brothers doppleganger lol.

Nice! Congrats man on a year deep behind the camera.

Huge tip of the hat to you, as much as I love content creation I'm not sure I could do the daily vlog thing lol. I would bore people to death with my limited knowledge of this stuff...

Amazing that you've stuck with it though and shows your followers that things are possible when you stick to it :)

Great lessons too from back in 2017 right? Don't sell or power down holds true to me as much as it did for you back that. Acquire the Steem now, you'll be thankful you did in the future....

Thanks, man!

Sooooo @exyle. My question is . . . if you were joining Steemit today do you think it would be possible to earn enough through blogging to give up your old job or, without a massive jump in Steem price, would you say that is no longer possible? That seems to be what you're saying. 😢

If you were joining now what would you be thinking?

Congrats on your year's anniversary!

If I started today I would try to collect as much STEEM as I could by using everything this platform has to offer.

I would also start planning for the upcoming SMT's and see on which app my focus would be when they come out.

Good to know. Thanks @exyle! 😊

You are talking about the impossibility of earning back powered down steem back. But would that automatically be the same for people who are just starting here? Because if that would be the case there really isn’t much motivation for new users to blog, don’t you think so? Also that would probably make it only beneficial for early adopters to blog on this platform. I really don’t think anyone would be happy about that if that would be the case.

The impossibility of earning back powered down STEEM by blogging goes for everyone. Including you and me.

It took you a year to earn all the STEEM you have. It takes 13 weeks to power everything down.

But if you mean earning STEEM in the future. Yes, this will be harder and harder. The reward-pool is fixed and more and more people are joining the platform. There is simple less and less STEEM to go around. It doesn't mean that the payouts will go down, they can easily go up when the STEEM price increases.

Thanks for explaining this in easily understandable words m8!

Congratulations on the coming one year anniversary, I just watched your very first vlog. You were right back then- I know those who sold their steem at 90 cents must be regretting wishing they hadn't. It is also good to see how much this platform has grown since then. The next milestone is steem at double digits say $10+ this time next year. Wishing you all the best :)

I guess it depends how much you powered down. The people who powered down and sold their steem at a dollar must be kicking themselves now

Didn't know you started blogging only a year ago. I joined june 2017 and was amazed by your blogs..

I started vlogging a year ago. I started blogging in July 2016.

ahh off course... ;-)

Congratulations in advance to your 1-year vlogging anniversary. I wish you success for the next year also. Upvoted!

Thanks!

Congratulations on your vloguversary!!!
You make me wanna start vlogging too just for the diary effect you shared about your past blogs.
Btw, are you using your smartphone to vlog or a special camera ?
Keep on vlogging

vloguversary!!!

Wow a great word! I just use my smart phone and a OSMO stick.

Good morning! Glad to see the sun shining!! Congratulations on almost one year of consistent vlogging! I bet you didn't dream this would be your career when you're in your 20's!! It's good how fun life can be! I wonder if your 2nd anniversary we will hear you sharing about success of SMT's?! More fun & exciting things to come for sure. I hope your gym workout was awesome! Have a fantastic day!

Thank you so much! And, yes it's been a crazy ride! My real Steemit 2nd anniversary will be in July. I started blogging in 2016. I expect a lot from SMT's I can't wait for them to come out.

You're welcome! I am glad to have found your blog :) with SMT's, will they allow independent markets? So like if I want to access internet from someone other than my local provider would someone be able to offer that? And, maybe we could get away from 5G that way for example? And, so many other wonderful exciting decentralized endeavours!!! Am I thinking along the right lines? LOL big kudos for being in from the beginning! That's pretty darn cool!!

Wow time just flies away like it was yesterday you have evolved so much and have learnt so many things and we too learn many things from you :)

It's really cool to see how things evolved in a year. Also this period seems very festive for you :D.

Congratulations on your first anniversary of vlogging! It is fun to look back at the old ones. I hope Steem keeps on growing.

I think it will from what I have seen the last two years.

Congratulations @exyle. Its was great to watch your vlogs as you provide great and useful information about the crypto world.

great story,,, know a new story,,, thanks for shareing...sir

yes alright earning will be more harder than hard if the steem power down.
good luck for then 1year bloging.

nice one @blockbrothers
nice post @exyle and congratulation on your one year blogging

Wow @exyle your consistency is indeed inspiring, sticking with steem for a year thats something. Congratulations.

Time flies!

Thanks for always being there for us @exyle by sharing very valuable information. 👊🏾

Seriously i heard about this platform a long time ago but i didn't pay much interest to it. I wish i started Earlier.

Good Call on the price! Never look back keep blogging your way to a millionaire, anything is possible my friend! =]

Thanks for the throwback on those vlogs. And congrats on the milestone this month Mark ( @exyle ) :)

I am just counting on those numbers when steem will become double digit or who knows triple digits. In crypto space if the fundamental is strong nothing is impossible.

great to see you as a committed blogger.

Thank you and cheers~~

I was actually hoping that you would share how it feels to be financially independent?

You are right that earning back Steem that had been posted down is impossible. Nevertheless for popular Steemians, like you, goes that even if they power down, they can build up again. While 99.97% of Steemians will most likely never be able to build up something (I calculated this percentage based on 0.03% of Steemians are whales and orcas). How do you feel about that?

I think you should be able to earn at least 115 Steem per week via curation.
And if the the 40% APR from the bid bots is correct you should even be able to easily earn 220 Steem per week via curation.

And if you become a real curation hunter, I estimate 500-1,000 Steem should be possible.
