Yesterday when I visited my sister I told her I bought a green egg. I even showed her the video I made not long ago, 'Grilling with Exyle'.
She couldn't really believe her eyes but she sure thought it was cool!
I guess like many people that have known me for a long time it's pretty surprising for them seeing what I'm doing on here. Being so open and comfortable doing it. And truth be told at times I surprise myself.
Vlogging is the most recent thing where I surprised myself. Not in a million years would I have ever thought I would be doing that and yet here I am. Trying new things. And I recently made my 50th vlog.
I feared it at first. Took me hours to just press the record button. It felt like giving a presentation in school. My goodness how I used to fear that. But I did it in the end and I hid that first vlog inside another post. lol.
Now I enjoy making a vlog very much but would never have known that if I didn't get pass the fear.
Makes one think about what else is out there that I fear but might possible love.
Anyway,I have no idea how I got so derailed but I invited my sister, her boyfriend and Sam for a grill session today.
From not seeing Sam in 4 weeks to seeing him twice in a row!
Showing Sam the Green Egg.
As a pre dinner snack I roasted some nuts in a cast-iron pan I bought at Makro.
This is Picanha. The most famous cut in Brasil. Bianca taught me about it. I never heard about this cut before meeting her. Sam keeping an eye on it.
There are many ways to prepare Picanha. I decided to cut steaks and grill them one by one. Here I'm just rendering down the fat.
I love the meat with the fat (which is not chewy but delicious).Served with grilled vegetables and a salad.
The meal was lovely but Sam got tired around 19:30. So he changed into his Pyjama and just sat with me for a couple of minutes before bed.
While Sam was sleeping we were talking about how sad it is to wake him up later when they had to leave. The idea was opted that somewhere in the future he might be able to stay over for the night.
The first time I babysat him alone I feared it but I did it. And it went fine!
I'm fearing him staying here for the night one day! I doubt I'll sleep at all. But I want to do it. I think it would be cool but I want Bianca there for back-up this time. No way I'm doing this alone :)

Grillin Lifestyle... totally agree, when in fear... it's telling us to take action. One can learn a lot when facing their fears.
I did tons of videos and LIVE on other social media platform, it's so much easier to do now as I did hundreds. However, there is still a slight fear but its just me telling myself to do more :)
Great post as always, glad you got over that fear because you're one of the best on Steemit 👍
It's truly incredible what we're capable of when we overcome that nasty 4 letter word called "fear". To get things we've never had, we have to do things we've never done, and there's a certain amount of fear in doing something new. You learn a lot about yourself in these times.
That's great you got to spend two days in a row with your sister and little Sam. Sharing a meal you've prepared with friends and family is something special and a very satisfying experience.
That last picture of you and Sam is adorable man! Maybe it's time you and Bianca gave Sam a little company his own age around the house. :)
Cool post !!
Baby is cool too and smiling !!
Your videos are great.
Keep on steemit
Sam is really adorable kid! Glad to know you made it fine with the babysitting task....
Hey, I've been on Steemit just under a month now and I just discovered you! I can already tell your topics are going be exactly along the lines I am most interested in. I have to admit I had no idea what a 'green egg' was and I pictured a literal boiled hen's egg that when you open the shell came out a distinctly green color. I wasn't going to try to take away from your definition of facing your fears, but I did wonder why eating a green-colored egg would be one of them.
The Picanha and vegetables look freakin' delicious. I am guessing you live in Brazil, ah and "EXyle" means you think of yourself as an exile of sorts. Very cool. I'll be watching the rest of your videos now that I have discovered them. Thanks again for sharing these.
I recently wrote about facing my fears and practicing doing 1 thing I fear every day, and the fact that Steemit has already made me try things for the first time that I had been putting off for ages - take videos with my phone (or with anything) and actually upload them to Youtube, open a Canva account and learn how to create memes and enter meme contests, apply to Amazon Merch and start making t-shirt designs, buy Bitcoin for the first time, then buy Steem and power up for the first time, etc. Now I'm looking forward to signing up with Camtasia and doing my first voiceover videos, probably tutorials for newbies like me to show the basics.
Oh my god. Sam is so adorable. In this post you're again showing your cooking talent @exyle. I always loved your cooking vlogs but this one is also good. Instead of vlog, I get to see some HD pics of your experienced hand made food . Those peanuts looks delicious and the meat is really looking yummy. It's nice to experience all this.
Looks like you had a great day .. What better to spend it with family and share some great food
I enjoy your vlog and you seem relaxed presenting them ... A natural :)
The steak looks good, and adorable baby! Resteemed
nice post
Yes, you got me with the baby.
@exyle you will actually be a great cook if you open a steemit restaurant. Doing great buddy, keep it up
Hahaha, oh well... one day you will be a perfect mom!
Ow man!
Seeing how much you like your grill, you will love getting your picanha here in Lisbon Portugal, early November for SteemFest 2.
Backup is always good.
Looks like you will be signing up for skydiving lessons at this rate of facing fears!
Thank you!
Good post @exyle!
We must fight our fears.
Sam cute baby ))
I have this feeling your food tastes better at home than the equivalent meal at a restaurant by a professional chef.
You put a lot of thought, time, and caring into your meal preparations, it is nice to see...
Totally agree, we should just go for things, fear is just a feeling, fight yourself it's only you vs you
I absolutely love some. He always makes my heart light up with his ocean blue eyes haha
The peanuts look like a great snack but what would a day in the life of @exyle be without a grill session.
The Picanha turned out beautifully well and it looks so delicious :)
Nothing better than a nice piece of grilled steak. I can see that piece melted on the tongue as it was supposed to. Gosh I love steak. And yea babysitting is always a little scary at first but when the child is asleep there is little that can happen so just try to relax and get some sleep or do something you like.
Sam is super cute!
Good post... As someone said "Underneath your fears lie great opportunities". So true!
Being free to fail is a gift most parents and adults do not give to young children. When Sam grows up enough to learn to cook, give him encouragement! Already I can see him admiring you. Give him gifts often.
enjoyed you post once again ,great content !!
loving the cuteness !!
great post and that pic was heart touching
We all have fears of trying new things and perhaps failing. Sometimes it's best to jump straight in with both feet. We don't gain anything from not trying.
Cool post! I also try to push through the fears to try new things so can totally relate! :)
