Slow cooked pork from the pressure cooker with Brazilian rice and a salad.

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Today I went to the gym with Bianca as promised yesterday!

It was not easy but we managed to get all our exercises done. (we do train separately).

I'm happy I have not lost strength so I can pretty much start where I left of but I did gain fat.

This needs to go, but it's not always easy (as my blog doesn't lie).

I love life with friends, good food and a drink....it doesn't mix well with steemfat...especially in the weekend.

They say diet plays a very important role in losing weight.

That's why I'm glad Bianca made a food schedule this week.

A meal for every day of the week. (although I already know I will skip two because of obligations).

I got to choose a meal today and went with the lean pork from the pressure cooker.

We cooked it together.

It was delicious.

Let's cook!

Ingredients: A piece of lean pork from the leg (ham?), tomato paste, crushed tomatoes in sauce, corn, red onion, bay leafs, smoked paprika, pepper flakes, rice, orange juice and garlic.

Snapseed 4.jpg

Start with cutting the meat in strips with the grain. You can see it's lean.

Snapseed.jpg

Crush garlic and put in the pressure cooker with a little bit of butter and fry for 2 minutes. (don't let it burn!)

Add the meat and fry for 5 minutes.

Snapseed 14.jpg

Add the tomato paste and stir it for 1 minutes then add the orange juice.

Now is time to add the herbs. Add the bay leafs, the pepper flakes and the smoked paprika.

Snapseed 7.jpg

Snapseed 6.jpg

Add the crushed tomatoes and add water until the meat is just under.

Snapseed 8.jpg

Snapseed 9.jpg

Close the lit of the pressure cooker and let it cook for around 30 minutes.

Snapseed 10.jpg

While the meat is cooking you can prepare the rice. I always do it in the Brazilian way Bianca taught me. Add oil and garlic to a pan and add rice. Also add salt. Stir it for 2-3 minutes then add water. Slowly add more water while the rice cooks. It takes about 15-20 minutes.

After 30 minutes the meat looks like this. Leave the lid off but keep boiling the sauce to reduce it while breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon.

When the meat is looking like this add the corn and the red onion. Time to serve!

End Result! The meat was beautiful and soft and not fat at all. We served it with rice and a simple salad with olive oil. It was delicious!

LOL! Rice Blog :)

Hehe d whole process could keep one smiling and feel great truly. Following u asap @josteem.

@exyle,
This looks delicious! It looks like a devilled pork. Wow that's pretty great! You made me crazy about it!

Cheers~

The food looks amazingly delicious , It tastes even better if you burn the crushed garlic, try it next time...burnt garlic lends an exciting touch to perfectly cooked food!

If you get it júst right, yes, yum!

When I burn my garlic it always turns very bitter. Is there a secret trick?

Looks delicious @exyle

Thanks!

Fortunately I ate before this and it wasn't torture reading it :)

The witness that knows how to cook. Well I've already voted for you.

I'll be preparing goat meat soup tonight and I'll share some pics if I don't get tired after cooking.

Haha! Thank you and thanks again for your vote for our witness! Enjoy your meal tonight!

Seems like a relatively simple dish but with all those fine ingredients and from the pics it looks too be a tasty one also, oil and garlic in the pan to cook rice? hmm interesting @exyle

oil and garlic in the pan to cook rice

I used to do it the Dutch way. Boil 2 liters of water, dump rice in wait 15 minutes. Bianca's way is 100 times more flavourful.

Wow! This looks like a great meal! No fat anywhere on the meat or rice.

They say diet plays a very important role in losing weight.

I hate the word diet! It sets you up for failure. It implies you are being deprived (or depraved?) and this also implies suffering or hardship. I prefer saying that we are changing to a healthier eating style. Also, change how we eat food. Most of us now eat our biggest meal of the day at night. Then in a few hours, we go to bed. Not the best for digestion. So it is better if you eat like a King for Breakfast, like a Prince for Lunch and a Beggar for Dinner.
My son and I have been doing this for the past 6 weeks and we have lost 25 pounds of undesirable fat, each. Not bad for not dieting, just changing to a healthier way of eating. And not feeling like we were cheating or falling off the wagon!

You know what! You are right. I will change the name to healthier eating style! That sounds way better. Also congratulations on the weight-loss...very impressive!

Thank you very much! What worked I think was to call it healthier eating and not Diet! That's a dirty four letter word in my books!

They say diet plays a very important role in losing weight.

Diet and sleep are more important than the workout, there are people losing fat and gaining muscle with just 1 workout a week, some with 3 workout, other with 6 workout, there are even some that workout twice a day, but they all have one thing in common, they all sleep at least 6 hours (8h is even better) and they have a meal plan for the whole week

Keep up the good work,

I have been craving food all day long. I ate somuch that i got tired, now was about to sleep and then I saw this. I love the Brazillion way of rice, in India we soak it first but this one sounds more logical as oil with sear the rice first. KuDos. Game on! Steem on, sharing this to try at a later date.

I need to get that pot that you have for cooking. Because when I cook my rice I always forget about it and do some other stuff and then it goes crazy and water is everywhere (With a higher pot the water won't fly in every direction. I would just screw up the rice)... :d

I am really happy that you started your work out again, great decision :)

Wow! i did not know that you're that amazing cook as this amazing pork and rice made my mouth watered My friend <3

Thank you so much for the amazing recipe

Stay Blessed, Steem On

Excellent training meal. Low fat and plenty of carbs for energy and protein to rebuild your muscles. Keep up like this and you'll be busting out of your shirts (in a good way) soon and Bianca won't be able to keep her hands off you :))

looking delicious again..the spring is slowly coming so soon I see the bbq again..

Thanks and I can't wait for spring!

hmmm, looks very good. My husband would love it very much. What a bad luck if the woman eats vegi;)

Yes I would ;-)

You deserve it :)

@solenn - have you read it? @exyle is very wise so you should listen to him ;-))

It is really hard for me loving meat and a wife being vegi - Last time I went to the doc for a checkup he came back with blood test results and asked me: "Are you vegetarian?" - I was shocked ...

I do not know if you like fish because that is a good friend of every diet. And don't be too strict, good work needs time!

I like fish!

For me, fat in my meals is rarely my problem. It's salt and sugar (including the sugars in simple carbs and alcohol). If you want to add one more challenge to your SteemFat, try to reduce your sodium intake to less than 1500 mg a day.

I can reduce my sodium, but my alcohol intake ... that's a little tougher. :-)

A food schedule is awesome for watching what you eat. I have one for weekdays, the weekends are... well, you know!

I like the recipe, I have a very similar one without the orange juice and with a tablespoon of chipotle paste.

I might try some OJ next time, I can imagine it adding a little zing.

Chipotle paste sounds like a nice addition! I'll gave that a go too!

It totally is, you will love it!!

Yummy yummy...If you can play football the way you can cook, then Holland will win the world cup!!! Good one

If only...we are not even going! We did not qualify.

Well done exyle. My girlfriend recently bought me a pressure cooker and I can't believe I spent all these years without one. You can easily cook a whole meal and it comes out juicy and tender. Now I'll have to try this with beef or lamb (I don't eat pork) and see how it goes. Thanks!

Bianca introduced the pressure cooker in my life and I must admit it's amazing!

wow amazing recipe indeed, i really like rice dishes and especially tomatoes are my favorite because they increase the flavor and taste of the dish and they are also full of nutrients and vitamins, i note down the recipe and i surely give it a try and man the end result of the dish is no doubt superb and it looks so tasty too, thanks for sharing this recipe with us and wish you a very joyful and cheerful week ahead, Stay blessed.

I know how difficult it could be to have a diet... and also have to “carry” yourself to the gym. But the prepared food looks really good, so that is not to bad.
Take good care the coming weeks, be fit and tension the muscles. Then you will be in shape and prepared for the good BBQ parties !

Thanks for all the recipe ideas.

Hi @exyle , my family is having a get together tomorrow and I've been racking my brain and searching online for recipes for preparing a great dish.

I'm definitely gonna cook this tomorrow morning. Uncle Tom loves meat a lot so he'll like this - tasty meat to be precise.

I think I'll need to get some bay leaves tomorrow from the market market too as I don't think there's one left in the kitchen.

Your cooking is superb I must say. Looking at the pictures got me salivating too - your food post always does.

Thanks for sharing this as I've greatly benefitted from it.

It's actually fun going to the gym with your loved one but why do you guys train separately , don't you think it would be more fun?

That's why I'm glad Bianca made a food schedule this week.

Do you mind sharing this schedule with us? Wanna know what you guys have for the week...#smiles

Looks very delicious.
Nothing is better than going home to family and eating good food and relaxing. It's very easy to impress me with delicious food. I don't need a fancy party to be happy. Just good friends, good homemade food, and good laughs, than I'm happy. I'm satisfied. I'm content.
Enjoy it!

Hnilk It is good for a person to place a list of meals throughout the days of the week for the dish I brought today seems to be delicious but better if the beef instead of the pig .

First, pork is forbidden in our Islamic religion .

Second, they conducted scientific research proving that it is harmful to humans .

You can search the internet for a collection of articles that talk about this topic
I will share with you one of the articles that talk about it. If you want me to provide you with something else, I will be happy with you.
