Vlog 229: Reasons to blog everyday + Powerdown statistics look good.

in #life7 years ago (edited)

A question I often get is why the Estimated Account Value in your wallet goes up and down.

The reason is pretty simple, it's based on a 3,5 average of the STEEM price.

So when STEEM price is $8 for 3,5 days then an account with 1000 STEEM is worth $8000.

When the STEEM price drops to $4 and stays there for 3,5 days your account value is now $4000.

The same goes for payouts on your post. That's why they fluctuate.

Reasons to blog every day.

75% of a payout on a blog post is for you. So If you get a $100 payout. $75 is yours.

That $75 is divided into SP and SBD. The difference is that the SP is divided by the current STEEM price and the SBD is not.

37,5/$3 (current STEEM price) = 12.5 STEEMPOWER.

37,5 SBD = 37,5 x 1 dollar (worth of STEEM) = 12.5 STEEMPOWER

Total: 25 STEEMPOWER for this post.

But as you know the SBD is trading for much more than it should. So normally it should be the equivalent of 12,5 SP on this payout but it's worth 40 SP at the moment. 3x times as much!!

So instead of 25 STEEMPOWER for this post, you get 52,5 STEEMPOWER (12,5 + 40).

That fact alone should be worth blogging every day for because it's easy to see that with every blog post created way more SBD are created than STEEM.

The amount of SBD on the market will increase at a rapid pace and it's already happening. In the long run, this will lower the price.

Now that's one reason but there are more reasons to blog every day and I talk about those in my vlog.

Power down statistics.

388,000 new STEEM created last week, 930,000 STEEM powered up and 543,000 less liquid STEEM on the market.

Very good numbers.

I'm starting to be a fan of this gif image. He's one of my favorite hollywood actor by the way ^_^

I've been slacking on the blogging part as of late. Hopefully the summer months will will get me out of my cave and actually doing interesting things.

But I think it is better to chose the 50-50 payout option when making your post, then then you can purchase Steem with your sbd and power up. From your calculations above, does it mean when you used the 100% power up, the author's reward will be divided by the current value of dollar? If so, then the 50-50%option is the best.

You are right. 50/50 is the best under these circumstances.

Today's vlog is really helpful and mostly for new steemians, I also have been explaining much about how post payout is being divided.
Am sharing the link to my group chat, so they can also learn.
Thanks for sharing @exyle

Nice video! I appreciate the breakdown! It's hard to explain this to people unfamiliar with the platform. That's one thing I'm working on now. I want to get better at attracting a bigger crowd to the platform. There's a learning curve for sure! I'm selling my SBDs each week right now for Bitcoin. Kinda hedging my bet here. But willing to buy STEEM at the right price. Probably $0.90-$1.50 range. Doubt I'll get that $0.15 STEEM! :-) Thanks for the post and reminder to be consistent!

thanks for information on steem ,sbd and strem power ☺

Thanks for the explanation, I was wondering why the account value would go down all of a sudden!

you are welcome!

Oh! I didn't realize that before.
It requires 3.5 days for account value to be updated, as I thought it's instant.

Also, I didn't know that getting 100% sp of reward will give me Steem equal to SBD.

I agree with you that numbers will increase and price of SBD will be lower if difficulty not increased, but in the long run, I guess steem price will go up.

So, according to what I understood:
If Steem price go up >> SP reward will be lower amount.
If Steem price go down >> SP reward will be more amount.

and for SBD, It doesn't mater if the price go up or down, because the network already calculatr it as a stable at 1 USD all the time so the reward amount will stay as it is now.

Did I understand right ?

Thanks a lot for sharing this info with us, and I hope from you to share more info about Steem in your upcoming posts :)

Mark @exyle I like how you put it all in perspective with your DTube this morning. What NEW Steemians should keep in mind is Be Consistent in your Blogs and don't give UP when you think it's not worth your effort..................

Definitely @stokjockey, I also think that people should not forget that it's all about the fun with posting content on this platform. As long as you like what you do, it's always a win-win.

Nice video. I am always selling SBD for STEEM or other coins. I agree that price is too good, but I am not complaining. Anyway tnx for sharing your insights.

Believe me I'm not complaining either :)

It definately all makes sense. I think in This time as long as SBD is high, which is only temporarily as you mentioned, and Steem is low and of course at the same time you don’t need to cash out your hard earned crypto Steem, it’s all in to your benefit. The perfect case of scenario is that for as long as SBD is at least at the current price or higher and Steem price goes even lower we all should benefit from this in the future since I belive it will eventually turn around (high Steem, low SBD) I think right now is the best time to blog, coment and to earn as much as you possibly can.
Keep playing, keep bloging no matter what!

I am actually confused still about SBD. I just transferred like .01 bitcoin which was aprx 100$ usd value and it gave me 27 SBD. How can I view SBD as being equal to 1$ if I just paid 4$ for it? I could have gotten the same amount of steem for that, but by buying the SBD my "account value" only went up 26$ not 100$...

The blockchain considers an SBD to be worth $1 worth of STEEM. But the markets have decided to trade SBD for much higher. But the blockchain does not look at the markets when it comes to SBD so it thinks it's only worth $1 and that what it shows.

Now the true value of an SBD is, in fact, $1 worth of STEEM and nobody has found a good explanation yet why it's trading higher at the moment.

As soon as you turn those SBD into STEEM the blockchain will show the correct value.

Next time I would not by SBD but STEEM straight away if you want to buy STEEM.

From what I understand is that SBD is “supposed”to be $1.00. However thanks to speculation, the price actually fluctuate. As of now the price of one SBD is $3.90 which is just about right to your 27SBD’s you received for 0.01 btc or$100.00. In your wallet you still didn’t convert your SBD to Steem that’s why it still doesn’t show on your acc value. Once you transfer your Steem dolars (SBD) to Steem Your acc. value will increase by approximately $100.00. Below is the link how to transfer Steem dollars (SBD) to Steem and them Steem power.
https://steemit.com/powerup/@dwinblood/how-to-convert-steem-dollars-to-steem-and-then-to-more-steem-power-if-you-want

Thanks for your vlog @exyle! I'm following your vlogs for quite some time and I like your opinion about the SBD price. In my opinion, it's quite funny that SBD to BTC is correlating so much, even though BTC is not inflationary unlike SBD. I would love to hear your opinion about that?!:-)

I would say it's the whole market that follows pretty much the same pattern with just some minor differences. Right now it exist over 1500 cryptocurrencies listed on coinmarketcap.

Sometimes you get an exception like when people pump coins in value to eventually dump them. But the fact remains that right now the Steem Blockchain is one of the most used in daily transactions which is super fascinating.

Clearly Steemit has more value now than Bitcoin for normal users. Bitcoin is like Digital Gold a bit boring but safe. Steemit is like Facebook but better. Curious what Mark Zuckerberg will do with Facebook. I heard he is looking into the Crypto industry!

Excellent video friend and you explain gracefully how payouts are divided now and why our account moves up and down and i agree with your thoughts that right now SBD is trading so high then it's normal price and i think converting SBD to steem now is no doubt a wise decision because steem is the coin with huge space ahead and accumulating more and more steem will benefit us in near future whereas SBD peg with USD so it has limitations and it has to come back to 1$ price at some point, thanks for sharing your nice thoughts with us friend and wish you a fantastic weekend ahead, Stay blessed

Hahahah @exyle, you are doing what the vampires do, hiding in the shades. Why not close the curtaina of look for a better position .

Well I missed the radio show yesterday and I was really sad about it. My network providers really messed me up but I hope to join in the next.

The Power down statistics looks good and I hope it continues this way.

This is such a useful post @exyle. To be honest I didn't follow all of it. I'm still finding the finances tricky but I've made a note of it and will go through it again more slowly.

One thing I don't understand is why's it's a good time to change SBD into Steem. When I checked I would only get 1.1 Steem right now. Earlier in the year or maybe the end of last year I was getting 1.3+. That seems like a big difference to me when you're first starting out but maybe it isn't.

The value of an SBD should be worth $1 worth of STEEM. So that means that you should get 0,33 STEEM for 1 SBD when steem is $3 under those circumstances. But since about 8 weeks the price of SBD has gone up for unknown reasons and at the moment you get 1,1 STEEM for 1 SBD.

Powerdown statistics look good its really good tropic of good day.you always inspired me of my steemit woro.i am a daily reader of your post.i am very frustrated this time because steem sbd prize up and down for some days.so,its really very bad news of all steemians.but i read your post my mind fresh feeling. i am alot of learning new thing of power down statistics mattet.this this very important information for me.you are a super hero for all steemians friend.thank u very much for ur good information posting. @exyle.. good job sir..

Quite informative and compelling.
How about powering up? I believe that 100% powering up is still a better option and leaving the payout option at 50-50 is not bad.

However, the points raised here are insightful and the reasons stated above are good enough for one to take cognizance of. Well done @exyle for sharing.

When SBD is higher than STEEM 50/50 is the way to go.

Right now my objective is to accumulate STEEM, and for that reason I´m always trading SBD for STEEM, that way I can power up, and make even more money when the STEEM price goes to the moon. At the same time I´m getting more influence in the community.

Blogging everyday is very important because of the consistency, and to keep you followers with good content at any time.

Good video @exyle! I think that blogging is mainly a passion, I never feel discouraged about Steem price declining, I joined the platform when it was trading for less than a dollar.
In my opinion, you should have fun blogging, money is just a consequence, if you just come for the money, then you probably end up leaving the platform everytime the price goes down.

i don't even look at account value now it is highly volatile right now hahah but good to store more and more steem all the way looking at future we know its bright

Looks like the price of SBD is going down again in relation to steem. I'll have to hoard SBD again until the next pump :)

A well written post and vlog that explained the simple basics of steem and sbd including payout economics. Thanks for sharing .

Excellent explanation dear friend @exyle I disagreed many doubts I had regarding the compensations. thank you very much
I wish you a beautiful domian

me and some friends have been complaining in the drop without any explanation. thanks for giving me the insight why its that way

One day all of the steem will be mine hur hur hur

NEVER! :)

@exyle thanks for the break down... I had always wanted to understand the rationale behind the up and down movement of earnings...
Now I get it.

As for blogging everyday... It's kinna hard tho especially if you have other part tine jobs at hand...
Really difficult to keep up sometimes....

Great point about the account values....

When I first joined and got my first 'whale upvote' I was beyond thrilled. Looked like I was getting like 50 bucks and then I checked again and it was 47 and then 40 and then 35 by the time I got paid....Man oh man, could I have used this information back then LOL Thought I was being robbed but alas....The value of the Steem Dollar went down.

But yeah, gimme the Steem Power lol That's all I'm trying to build up for the first year. Content everyday, get the SP built up :)

Thanks again for helping us newer Steemians get fired up for the week ahead!

Thank you for the great advice about blogging and explanation of steem rewards. I can see the sun is out and I do wish u a good Sunday :)

I have been wondering what could be the possible cause of this fluctuation. My account value once dropped by almost 30% and it must so frustrating.
Thanks for taking time to break this down . I totally understand this now.

Blogging on Steemit everyday is worth it. No other medium can be this rewarding. I am absolutely excited to be here.

It's not just Steem but the whole cryptocurrency industry that goes up and down very fast. 100 billion down in market cap in a week is pretty standard these days. Eventually in the future it would be cool if it was a bit more stable but that will probably take a very long time. Since this market is expected to grow a lot in amount of users the next couple of years and even decades!

On the other hand it's way more fun than fiat currency that rarely goes up high in value! Clearly crypto is the future of transfer digital value on the Internet! If it goes down fast then it also can go up fast! Especially when we see Smart Media Tokens hit the market and companies have to keep a reserve of Steem!

Is there anyway for someone to know when a particular cryptocurrency is about to rise or fall

Nope. Since most humans are walking around unconscious for most of their day we really have no idea when they get crazy ideas and decides to sell or buy. The only thing we know is that when people start talking about Bitcoin going to the moon in the mainstream media then the price usually goes up!

Hey @exyle I am a daily blogger and it is a fun hobby to do and i am trying to build steem power. Thanks for your advice and reasons and i will definitely keep them in mind.

Good stuff! Comment, collect and cash in.................. good time to do it!

Thank you. totally agree with that although sometimes it make me so lazy to write everyday when looking to the Steem price and the payout value but the value is actually worthy when I convert my SBD to Steem

You are using comma (,) in many places instead of full stop (.). Please consider editing it..It confuses while reading.

estimated account value is related to the price of steem. so if the price of steem is ups and downs ,estimated account value will be up and down

tipuvote! 0.1 :)

Thank you!

Very good stats its good to see that people are investing in steem rather than just taking out.

You are right we should blog not only for rewards but it helps authors improve their analytical, research, and writing skills while producing worthwhile content for the community.

what a bullshit you are writing - "improve their analytical, research, and writing skills while producing worthwhile content for the community". No one gives a damn about your incisive writing unless it is some video which is easy to make than writing

I don't understand why you would want the value of sbd to depreciate, I know it was supposed to be pegged at $1.
But people actually live off sbd (speaking from experience), a stand out feature of steemit is that it allows people to start with nothing and earn big.
You don't have to be rich enough to buy a zillion coins before you make it on steemit, just have the desire. If the value of steem continues to depreciate it will take a longer time for ordinary people to get something out if this and discourage people easily. Steem might get more expensive but it is rewarded in little quantities.

I see Steemit as the Regular people's coin, not for the rich. Please whatever that can be done should be done for it to remain this way.

Well the problem with the current model is that they are printing more Steem Dollars. So naturally that will eventually lower the price. You can't have a currency that goes up forever that would make it useless. Also you have developers that is being paid in Steem Dollars and their salary is hard to calculate if the SBD fluctuate too much! Remember that the high SBD has only been lasting for around 2 months. So it will probably come back down again to it's natural level!

As @exyle said in the video the good thing if it comes down is you will have less competition on the platform because less will blog! So it's actually a good thing for the opportunist! Remember that Smart Media Tokens will be launched soon so if you invest in Steem you may make a massive profit if you hold it! But you have to be patient! And as with all things in life it's a risk and may not succeed. But there is a good chance it will increase in value!

Ok, thanks for taking out time to explain this.
I have a better insight into what's going on.

I didn't know about this rule where the SBD and SP division worked. Thanks for sharing with my friend @exyle.

I also blog every day as I post news about cryptomoney, so I always have to be aware of the latest news that comes to light to transmit it to all of you.

Greetings colleague. By the way, I invite you to stop by my blog if you want. A hug :)
