I am sorry for yours loss. Life sometimes takes us unaware shattering all laid plans and aspirations but we have to take solace in the fact that if there is really an after life we will definitely meet again. your father seem like a great man and a good father, he will definitely live on in the the mind of his love ones .
Cheer up dear and try to be a source of strength to your mother. RIP
