My name is Ulyana, I'm 29 years old, I live in Petersburg, I have a wonderful mother, I work, I write oil paintings, I make a mosaic of stained glass, and I really love this life. And I also have cancer.
I have skin cancer (melanoma), it came from a mole, which once became malignant. I have been living with this diagnosis for 2 years and during this time I underwent 6 surgeries, underwent various treatment options (up to individual vaccines from my blood), hundreds of examinations and consultations of doctors from Russia and Germany. Now the disease has gone very far, I have 4 stages (yes, this is the last), metastases in the lungs.
Before the illness I had many plans and hopes. I traveled a lot, I lived with creativity and favorite work. Mosaic is my passion, I can pick up colorful pieces for hours, it's pure pleasure! I also like to teach people. Since 18 years I have been working in this field, which I did not have to teach - photoshop, sales of mattresses for a million rubles, speedy printing on the computer, and hard phone conversations.
Now, instead of mosaics and paintings in my life, there are almost daily hospitals, doctors, examinations, procedures. And yet, despite the 4th stage and the impossibility of treatment by standard methods (chemotherapy, radiation therapy and other methods on melanoma do not work), I have a great desire to live and say goodbye to the illness forever!
5 years ago melanoma was considered incurable and stage 4 meant only one. But over the past few years, scientists have invented a drug that triggers complex immune system mechanisms to fight the tumor.
This drug is called Opdivo (nivolumab), it showed very good results and doctors say that with it I can defeat the disease. Today, Opdiv is already appointed in Europe, but for our country it is too expensive to include it in security, and all I have to do is buy it myself.
The cost of treatment is 410 000 rubles per month. The course will not be less than a year, that is 4 920 000 rubles.
