Let Yesterday Go

In my short but eventful life so far, i have discovered that one of the greatest enemies of human beings is their attitude towards their past! Yes, it is either past victories or failures. It seems that the devil has discovered that the best way to destroy man's future is to keep him focused on his yesterday.

Just like nobody can watch two channels on one television simultaneously, nobody can look forward and backward at the same time. Really, I have never seen anyone trying to drive forward looking at the rear view mirror. No! He will surely have an accident if he tries that. Little wonder so many people have destiny accidents, they aspire to move forward, but their gaze is towards their past.

This short words is an appeal to you to stop taking journeys into yesterday. Just LET YESTERDAY GO! Do not build your future around the past, for we serve a God that does not consult our past to determine our future. Thomas Jefferson puts it this way; "I love the dream of the future much more than the history of the past".

Keeping looking forward not backwards. Take a cue from your physiological make up; God the creator put your eyes in front of your head not at the back. Why? So that you can be forward looking and not backward looking.
Never put a question mark where God has placed a full stop. You can do it too. Let yesterday go! I know it takes guts to leave the ruts, yet I insist, get moving!

Yesterday's Victories
For some people, yesterday success is the enemy of their future victory because they choose to make it a lawn chair instead of launching pad. Never allow this.

There is still much to do, so get up and let yesterday go. START MOVING! LET GO AND GET HOLD! Put the victory of the past behind you, there is a greater victory ahead.

Yesterday's Failures
His was the typical failure story or so it seemed, how else can you explain it?
Consider this:
Failed in business 1831
Defeated for legislature 1832
Failed in business again 1833
Suffered nervous breakdown (who wouldn't) 1836
Defeated for speaker 1838
Defeated for elector 1840
Defeated for congress 1843
Defeated for congress again 1848
Defeated for senate 1855
Defeated for vice presidency 1856
Defeated for senate again 1856

I bet you will also call him a failure. You can summarize his life very simply as failed, defeated, but wait a minute... in 1860 he becames The President of United States of America. Shocked? YES! This is the true story of Abraham Lincoln, one of the best presidents America ever had. We owe the unity of America and abolition of the slave trade to him. His secret? He learnt the difference between temporary defeat and failure. There is no failure for the man that fights on.

Always remember that even if you get knocked down, you are not yet knocked out. All men fall, but only great ones bounce back. Failure is not irrevocably fatal. No! It is meant to show the difference among men, for the same failure that makes some men to breakdown causes others to break records. Let yesterday's failure go and move on. Failure, at most, should be a delay not a defeat.
Do not let your mistakes become memorial; they should be cremated not embalmed! Move from being a creature of circumstances to a creator of circumstances. Stop! Don't get bitter, rather get better.

Hurts and Pains
Have you been hurt before? Have you experienced pain? Have friends betrayed you? Have you suffered shame, false accusations and unnecessary evil? You have a friend in Jesus. He's been in the same situation before, so He understands. Many times I see people go through hurts and pains because of rejection, but I always tell them that rejection is not fatal. It is merely somebody's opinion. Never allow anyone to make you feel inferior, for no one can make you feel inferior without your consent;DO NOT GIVE YOUR CONSENT.
