So theres a tour guide I follow on instagram and it so happened She did a tour recently to a castle right here in Nigeria and it reminded me of the castles in one of my favorite series "Game of Thrones" looking more like the castles in Kings Landing or High Garden, probably because it doesn't snow here. The amazing thing is this castle was not built in ancient or medieval times.
It was built in 1978 by a controversial German expatriate living in Kaduna, Northern Nigeria. The style is very European and clearly German, with a baronial hall complete with suits of armour. The views of the surrounding mountains and fascinating inselbergs are terrific, and were clearly behind the decision to build the castle here.
In the castle, there are bedrooms looking like dungeons and several towers with crenelated walls. The road up to the castle is not a journey for the faint heart, neither is it for vehicles without plenty of horsepower under the bonnet.
I read somewhere that there are also crocodiles in a pit protecting the huge castle like gates.
Well all this will make it an interesting place for photoshoot, shooting a movie, a holiday get away etc etc. I wonder why am just hearing about it though, either am not as current as I thought or our tourism potentials are just being well exploited. I hope to visit there soon.
Wow! This is so cool.
