What It Took To Finally Get Some Quiet Time At The Gym

in #life7 years ago

Not that I was looking for quiet time, per se, but walking into the gym this (Saturday) morning at 6am I found myself to be the ONLY person on the main level of the gym. We're talking about a.n area of 6,000 square feet of space containing more than 5 dozen machines and work out spaces.

It was just me in all that space.

(I liked it cause I'm something of a loner.)

After about 30 minutes a couple of more guys arrived to work out, but no surprise there right?

Now it's not like I wanted to have the gym all to myself, but having it happen for the first time ever was kinda cool.

Anyway, the numbers...

squat - 10x45 5x95 5x115 3x125 3x135 2x145 1x155 3x5x165 4x145

I don't think that's the high mark for the squat. Still it was the best version of the squat when it came to my form/depth. Plus my right hip was not an impediment. Next time I will shoot for 170.

bench press - 10x45 5x95 4x135 3x145 1x155 1x165 5x170 2x5x171.25 4x145

This is a new mark for me in the bench press. The very last rep on the last set was almost a fail. I had a spotter on this one who gave me verbal encouragement to finish that last rep and I just barely got it.

dead lift - 5x135 5x185 5x225 5x205

Not a new mark here, but it was a 10 lb bump from last time. No hip issues after this one either.

dips - 3x5x53.12

This is a new mark. Those small metal rings really come in handy for getting those small, steady gains.

outward curls - 3x12x30

This is an improvement from last time since I took an extra minute or two between sets.

It was a good workout for sure with new highs in the bench press and tricep dips. Still I will be much more satisfied when I can finally get my squat to well exceed my bench press. It's getting closer.
