Can't say I was ever a massive fan of the band but had mad appreciation for how talented and unique a vocalist Chester was with unreal range.

I think it's hard to tell people if something is the answer or not, as someone who has lost a couple of friends to suicide, there is only so much advice you can give because ultimately you don't know how someone else feels and what is going on in their head, it's hard to know if you have ever felt as low as they do right at that moment.
