Hello! Greetings to the Steemian community, I hope you are all doing well. In this opportunity, I want to talk about the band which I've belonged to for 9 years — and counting —, since I can’t write about all that time in one single post, I'll start with the first years of the band.
From left to right in the picture: Bass guitar: David Rivero (myself), Voice and Guitar: Oswaldo Torres , Drums Dagny Castillo and Guitar: Juan Changir .
Based on the great admiration and empathy almost all of us feel for the surrealist art, we decided to name our band Apollinaire, after Guillaume Apollinaire in order to honor the great French poet and writer.
We started in 2009 as a garage band, in a bedroom, used as a rehearsal room, in the drummer's house Dagny Castillo, where we used to meet for about 2 hours a day, 3 times a week. There we lasted a long time until we decided to record our first song, not very professional but it was recorded: Profilaxis. 3 years later, we had already shared the stage with nationally recognized bands, like: Viniloversus, Los Mentas, Mochuelo, and others. In mid-2011 the guitar player who started the band with us, left band for personal reasons. Then, our good friend Marco Facchinei joined us as our new guitar player.
About a year later, something a bit unexpected suddenly happened, but as a band (that was expecting something like this) Candy 66 vocalist, Jean de Oliveira contacted us via email to produce some of our songs, which at that time was the Antílope EP (that's how we called it). It has 6 songs and you can listen to them here.
The recording took about a month or a bit more in the city of Valencia, VE, at Backstage Studios, under the production of the already mentioned Jean. It was an ineffable experience, there are still memories and good times, and the best part was the recorded EP as a sample of the work we have been doing.
To sum up, I leave this story here and be attentive to the second part.
