RE: A difficult transition from Facebook to Steemit

in #life8 years ago

To me, facebook and steemit are two completely different use cases. Steemit is much closer to a more traditional blogging platform (blogger, wordpress, etc.) than a social network like facebook. Though it's superior for obvious reasons :)

I agree. Staying in touch with friends and family trough Steemit blogging in not really that easy compared to what it is it for Facebook. However, for those that use Facebook to post long texts about their beliefs or opinions, Steemit can be a great change :)

....and perhaps a 'Great Opportunity' to make New Friends. ;)

I wouldn't disagree with your statement, though I wouldn't say they are "Apples & Oranges". I defiantly would agree with the FB/Blogger hybrid. Although I imaging there will be many more 'Facets' to this Gem called Steemit!

I guess it depends more on how you use it. To me facebook was always more about sharing stuff with people I know in real life. I probably wouldn't post pictures from my kid's birthday here but that's exactly the kind of thing I would do on facebook. For better or worse, virtually everybody has a presence on facebook even if they don't use it much. It makes it damned convenient for that sort of thing.

On the other hand, if I were going to write an article or a story or something then I would use wordpress or something similar. I might share it on facebook depending what it was but it wouldn't start there.

With something like wordpress, blogger or steemit, you typically want to maximize your audience. But with facebook and other social networks it is often about limiting your audience to a certain group.

Interesting points to consider. Thank you.
