Hi I'm Danny! I'm travelling around the world! Follow me here.
In part one I'd landed in the vibrant city of Bogotá in Colombia. It was now time to trek up the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain range and search for the hidden city. This would take me deep into the jungle.
We were now right on the Colombian coast where the untouched jungle backs right onto the white beaches and turquoise waters of the Carribean sea.
The native people of this area are called the Tairona People and they go back to the 1st Century. You can see how lightly they travel - just the clothes on their backs and the small sack (we'll come to that later) - they'll walk through the jungle for days. They are a super resourceful people.
I'd booked my trip with a local travel agency and I didn't know any of the people that I'd be travelling with. This was the start of a week long trip... and lots of walking.
After a full day trekking we were all absolutely knackered and realising how unfit we were! Covered in sweat we all went down to the crystal clear fresh water river to cool down and clean up. Back at the camp we chose our hammocks and got under our mosquito nets.
Great post looking foward for part two, ill be on the look out, just followed :)

We have just got back from this expedition! You forgot to mention the amount of kittens along the way! Our trip coincided with Columbia vs Bolivia football game which our guide didnt want to miss... so we spent the second night in a thunderstorm trying to get signal for the sat TV, very surreal watching football in the middle of the jungle ;)
