Hi I'm Danny! I'm travelling around the world! Please Follow me
After leaving the hidden city I made my way down to The Pantanal.
The Pantanal is a UNESCO World Heritage site mostly located in Brazil - but it's so big that it stretches over into Bolivia and Paraguay too. It's incredibly vast and the total area of about 60,000 square miles is larger than England!
The Pantanal completely transforms over the months when the rain comes. It goes from dry to a huge wetland that is almost 80% flooded.
The whole environment, people, and wildlife are utterly dominated by these rains.
In the dry season we travelled around in four wheel drives and on horseback, when the rain comes we swapped to little boats.
When people think of wildlife in Brazil they normally think of the Amazon. Not as many people go to The Pantanal but in terms of seeking wildlife - it's one of the best places I've ever been.
Whilst in The Pantanal I volunteered as an assistant guide on an eco lodge called Xaraes. For some reason there was hardly any guests and I had hardly any work to do... because of this most of my time was spent in canoes going up and down rivers looking for wildlife.
