Um! I only have a little garden! In fact, I am not good at planting roses, too. It began with one blooming rose when I bought it one month ago and I have these two buds when I plant it in my garden. I do really hope it'll grow well and has a lot of roses for me....
In the meantime, I would love to have a large garden with plenty of fruits like your mother's garden and a lot of flowers as well. ;))
