My Poetry: The Tunnel

Crawling out of the tunnel, blinded by the light
The unexpected shock of long forgotten sight
For when the darkness surrounds you, not with eyes do you see
Feeling the way to where you’re trying to be

Discovering what held you, the doubt and the fears
Working your way through the anguish and tears
Till finally you realise you are free from the past
Free to grow, free to learn, free to live at last

So leave the darkness behind you
Let that light pierce your mind
But remember the tunnel and all that it taught
Don’t forget why you went there, the peace that you sought.
