The Three Brothers - A Sunday Reflection

in #life7 years ago

Today I will share to you a beautiful story shared to us by the officiating priest of the Holy Mass I attended earlier this morning - Rev. Fr. Roberto Balsamo Jr., SSJV

“There was this man who orders three bottles of beer every day. One day, a curious bar attendant asked on why he keeps ordering 3 bottles and finishes it ‘til the last drop.

‘Sir, sorry to interrupt you, but I would just like to ask why is it that you order 3 bottles of beer every day and not missing it since the first day I saw you around’

The man replied, ‘Me and 2 of my brothers made a pact to drink 3 bottles of beer to continue the relationship we had since our early days. We are so close to each other that even if they are living far away from me, the bonding that we have will always be there’

One day the man returned to the bar and ordered 2 bottles only.

The curious attendant approached the man to deliver the beer and said, ‘Sir, my condolences to you and your family. You ordered 2 bottles only, I suppose one of your brothers passed away’

The man replied, ‘Oh no, no. My brothers are alive and kicking! They are very much healthy and no one passed away. Last week I joined a retreat and I have reflected so much that I decided to quit drinking. I decided to change for myself in order to bring a new start in my life. I am drinking for two of my brothers that is why I ordered 2 bottles to drink today.’”

Sunday Relection

The story gives us an impression of not being able to carry the comittment/change hat was aimed. It was a false manifestation that gives us a room for failure and regrets.

Fr. Roberto’s homily focused on how we could bring the message and importance of the Lent Season in our lives. Lenten season gives us a chance to think deep in ourselves on how we could bring improvement in our lives and to other people. The lenten season is a time of reflection and realizations.

Father mentioned that in order for us to bring change in this world, we need to start in our own ways, in our own selves first. We need to be sure of what changes are these and we need to commit to these changes in order forus to achieve what we want to achieve.

These changes wont come and start from our President and his members, it wont come and start from our friends nor family, a change should start from us, from each one of us.

A Blessed Sunday to all!
