If you’ve been following me you’d know how bad this month has been for my family. My daughter’s father-in-law passed away and four members of my family, including my father who’s 88 years old, were diagnosed with dengue fever!
My sisters and I had planned for our very first sisters vacation to Krabi this month. We had made all arrangements and payments but in the end only four of us made it ☹️
After we returned from Krabi time really flew by. Before we knew it Friday was here and it was time for #5 and her family to return to UK. We had dim sum for breakfast and after that I took #5, her husband, and younger daughter to have a look at some property (as usual, we squeeze everything in at the eleventh hour!). We were just five hours away from the time we plan to leave for the airport. What could possibly happen?
Well, a faulty piece of furniture at the display unit fell on my niece’s foot! It nearly cut her toe in half! She yelled for my sister and when I turned around they’d put her on a chair and I could see her big toe had split at the top and the broken bone was gaping at us! OMG!!!
She thought it was a superficial cut and wouldn’t believe us when we told her it was cut to the bone. Blood was oozing out and my sister wrapped her hankerchief around her toe and held on tight, all the way to the hospital. She’d just taken a first aid course before coming back here! Thank God!
The point I want to share here is how brave my niece is and the positive attitude she displayed. The whole time, from the showroom to the airport, she joked and laughed, like nothing had happened (as you can see from the photos below).
On the way to ER she joked that she could now apply for a job at London Dungeon! And the fact that her new toenail would be wobbly didn’t bother her at all. Now, that’s rare for a pretty nineteen-year old!
Thank God the cut was clean with a slight fracture at the tip of her toe. The doctor removed a fragment of her toenail (😖) and gave her five stitches.
I just had a chat with her on WhatsApp. She has to have the bandage changed on Tuesday. She’s nervous because she’s sure the bandage is stuck, but it has to be done. What a champ! 🏆

Look at how calm she was!

Holding on tight!

Arrived at ER

How can one not freak out!

On the way to x-ray

All stitched up. Time to go home and pack

At the airport. Messing with the wheelchair!

You knooooooow.
I think you should legitimately give a "gore ahead" warning for readers who are not expecting it, yo! x"D
It's good she's (kinda) fine. Emotionally, definitely so :)
