Pay to play has been the death of gaming to me. Having plot holes in a game that require watching a separate movie sounds on and most likely a money grab. That may not be the case though, especially with that type of game that knows it will get it's investment back from a loyal fan base. Might have been a move to tell the story how they wanted to. Good write up though!

I think their intention was to drum up hype with the movie before the game came out. I like how you said tell the story how they wanted to because the creators really seem to have treated this game like their child and i like that outlook on this concept.
There is a point when artists become so confident in their work that you either do it how they want to or it doesn't get made. Dave Chappelle is a great example of this, things were not being produced how he wanted and he bailed. It took ten years but now Netflix is doing it his way.
True Dave is an honerable man too. His kids are a shining example of that. His inside the actor studio is very good. I do also know that he can be a dick though lol and use his status to kind of do things his way in a negative light. An example of such is smoke in buildings that are non smoking or it is illegal to smoke in knowing no one well question him.. which if i still smoked would do too if i could get away with it like him lol
I am starting to study personality types a lot in regards to celebrities. It takes a certain type of mentality to operate at that level. I think there are multiple side effects of that, the smoking in public (rebellion) may be a coping mechanism.
To me it seems like his little selfish rebellion
