How has everyone been today?

I had a fantastic day. I learnt about resilience from someone who is trained in teaching people how to deal with adversity. We learnt about breathing techniques, visualization, Self motivation, optimism and having a growth mindfulness. Some of you reading this may not understand why this is as important to practice as going to the gym, but i will try and tell you why it is important. While also using this blog to reiterate what I have learnt today.

Growth mind

Having a growth mind is the opposite of a fixed mind. Basically a growth mind is wanting to learn everything you possibly can about any situation, take on feed back from people and using that feed back to change for the better. Most people are open minded/ growth minded about some things and closed/fixed minded about others. knowing what you are can help. You should all try to practice a growth mind, everybody should be aiming to be a better them.

Breathing

Learning to breath in a stressful situation is an amazing ability.
Check out https://www.drdavidwilliams.com/proper-breathing-improves-health for a more in depth explanation on why learn to breath is important.
A basic practice is breath in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds then breath out for 4 seconds. repeat this for about 10 minutes. A great mobile app is headspace. Check it out. the first 10 sessions are free. What have you got to lose expect 10mins a day.

Visualization

This basically reiterates in your mind that you can achieve what you are planning on doing before you attempt it. An example is visualizing a golf swing, visualizing what you are going to do when you get home after you commute. Take the time and really spend 2 to 10 minutes how ever long you think is necessary to really visualize what you are going to attempt.
This really helps with having a positive outlook on what you are going to to. POSITIVENESS EQUAL GREAT!!!

Self motication

Use this technique when things get hard. Some examples of self motivation are you are trying to lift one more rep at the gym and you say something like "fucking get it", "you are the man", "you are a terminator" you get the point. Find what ever works for you. Ross Edgely has a great interview on London Real about self motivation. He in the guy who did a triathlon with a tree.

I hope these ramblings taught you something and if they didn't feel free to holla in the comments. As always I could have continued typing but who really wants me to carry on rambling?
