Hi Guys! It has been quite a while since I posted here on Steemit, but I am back and I am so excited to share a lot of exciting new things in my life with you! Last month I attended several festivals, and today I am going to share my experience at Nocturnal Wonderland with you!
Nocturnal Wonderland is a festival put on by insomniac, this wonderful company is also responsible for EDC. It takes place in San Bernardino, California at Glen Helen Regional Park. There is an optional camping experience, but I opted to stay in a Holiday Inn since I am not fond of tents or sleeping outdoors. The festival runs for two nights, Friday and Saturday and includes four stages.
Here is the lineup from this Year's festival!
This festival was my first time seeing Autograf, which is a group that my friends and I adore. I was also excited to see DJ Mustard and Ookay.
I attended the festival with my childhood best friend, Jaylene. We have been friends for over six years now, and she makes festivals 1000 times more fun! Here is a photo of us together on the road to Nocturnal!
Day One:
The first day we arrived around 7 p.m. (the festival began at 5 p.m., but we hit a bit of traffic on the interstate), we had to pick up our wristbands from will call, but once we got that squared away we made our way into the venue. The venue itself is mostly grass and dirt. The parking areas were pretty far from the actual venue, and it was a long (uphill) walk to make it inside. This is a lot different from what I normally experience with Insomniac events. I am accustomed to events at the NOS Events Center, which is a flat venue with mostly concrete.
This venue did not have any indoor stages, and only portable restrooms were available for use. This took a little bit of getting used to, but we survived. :)
Jaylene and I have a few friends that work in the video production business, so we visited with them and got lucky enough to set our jackets down in the production booth! We enjoyed several shows at the MainStage and adventured throughout the venue. This photo below was a part of a cute little beach stage they had set up in the center of the venue. You can see the decorated treeline behind us.
The festival was beautifully decorated, with a lot of neon and lights everywhere. Insomniac always does an amazing job designing and decorating their venues. Nocturnal Wonderland did not disappoint!
One thing we were not prepared for was how quickly the temperature drops in that area in mid-september. We were freezing our tails off by the end of the night! The festival runs until about 2 a.m., and around that time Jaylene and I returned to our hotel room that was about 20 minutes away.
Day Two:
The second day we arrived around 7 p.m. as well (we had several wardrobe malfunctions). This time we were prepared for the long walk from the parking lot to the venue, and the temperature drop! Here is a photo of Jaylene and I, taken on her instax camera.
We enjoyed the music and the scenery again the second day. Jaylene found this cool inflatable crown (pictured below) and we had a lot of fun dancing around the venue!
At the end of the night we were exhausted, but feeling extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to attend the festival. Pictured below are our two good friends and I at the end of the night (notice our wardrobe changes).
