One of the Biggest Lessons I Could Watch in My Life! I Hope It's Cultivated in the Community!...

Hello Steemians, hope everyone is doing well!

In this post I will tell a story that I could experience in my life and that is very useful in all areas and relationships that I can imagine, I also believe that anywhere in the world or country.

Here at Steemit will be no different.

Twenty years ago I was and a meeting at a big company. On this day all the major shareholders and managers were meeting in a large meeting room.

I already owned a technology company and was together with a developer of my company to present our proposal to implement new software that would greatly help the productivity of the company, in addition the system that the company used was already very old and outdated for the time and I had a contract with this company to develop a new solution.

After 3 hours of presentation with everyone in the room began a series of questions about various aspects related to new software that would be developed.

I should clarify that we didn't have competitors because we already had the contract signed and we were in the meeting to present the solution before starting the development.

After many questions I noticed that only one manager didn't make any inquiry or observation and this made me feel intrigued.

But to my surprise I was not alone paying attention to this fact but the majority shareholder and why not say the owner of the company also paid attention that the manager had been quiet the entire period of the meeting.

At this point the owner of the company looked at the manager and asked:

Manager! Why are you quiet and asked no questions?

The manager replied: Can I?

The owner said: I think you could already because we are all here for this.

The manager who was an envious person and why not say nasty said: Because I think all this a stupid ideia and additionally this solution proposed by this guy is sucks and will not be good for the company.

For a few seconds that were like hours the room was now in a deep silence.

I looked at the owner who was about 65 years old, he rubbed his hand on his chin and told the manager:

Now I Understand! So I'd like you show to everyone what project you have for improving the company, what software you're going to develop, or what observations you have to improve on what we've seen here.

The manager replied:

I don't have a project, I'm not a technology developer but I think and already said everything I had to say and my opinion about what was show.

The company owner looked deep into the manager's eyes and said: "Great, then you can leave the meeting and go to the payroll department because you're fired".

The manager asked why he would be fired.

The owner said: Because I just want proactive people in my company and I'll give you some advice before you leave this room:

"IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING GOOD TO TALK OR ADD, YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS: SHUT UP OR SHOW SOMETHING BETTER" please leave this room.

Friends, I lived this History that was a lesson for the rest of my life.

In addition to the attitude demonstrated by the owner of the company I understood at that moment why he had reached the top and be the owner of that biggest company.

You must be thinking about how this meeting ended.

At the end of the meeting everyone in the room greeted each other, thanked each other for contributing to the debate and the software was developed and the company benefited from everything we did and me and the owner became great business partners.

The rising sun is always saluted, so the owner of the company told that passive and jealous manager that if you can do something better then do not sit quietly otherwise.The subject matter that we do not have knowledge about, it is proper to remain calm.There are always some mischievous elements in society whose sole purpose is to count the weaknesses of others and to humiliate the other.Positive thinking and loyalty to your actions always leads to the path of progress towards humans.The only reason for the company's owner to reach the top was that he always gave such a person a place in his company who is active and who has passion for duty.
The lack of activity snatches the identity of the person, blocking the path of success. That is why we should be vigilant in our subject area and complete our work with complete dedication.

To me the manager was afraid of his position been taken so it made him develop jealousy...
Am just wondering what would be his next line if action after leaving.

Great lessons to be learnt I must say..

That is why we must always walk with humility, and be wise with what is said, we must think as we want but with reflection, always asking ourselves if what we think will be true, so that these things do not happen to us.

Thank you for sharing so true. In my experience working in manufacturing people don’t quit jobs they quit bad managers. I had to leave a job after being there 12 plus years due to a bad manager.I didn’t want to quit the company just the manager.

Good boss = prosperity

Exactly, one bad manager can ruin the moral of good employees.

Typical of a Harvard School Business "Case Study Analytical Discuss" @chbartist. But just can't decipher how such a negative fixated Personality rose to become a Manager and Substist as Such.

I am agree with the owner of the company, especially because when you are a leader, you must have a work team that wants o give the best of them, and in those kind of moments, you must show why you are a leader, and take the best desicions for your company letting go those people who don't want to contribute with the developing of your business

Thank you for your advice. Instead of being jealous of others' accomplishments, use that time to learn or find ways to help yourself grow.

many bosses like not to give them problems only, but the solution ... this was a boss I had ... he always told us: I do not want complaints and problems, the one who comes to my office must raise the problem and the solution....

It all comes down to learning to adapt to and drive change or not survive! This is part of evolution in any environment and particularly in business. With the acceleration in technology this will continue as well!

Thank you again for those worthy insights. For me beeing 29 years old with the goal to build and lead a company it is very interesting to read your experiences.

This topic leads to something else: People beeing negative and toxic. All those phrases like "you can't do that" or "we did it that way all the past and it worked - why change?" belong to people looking into the past, not the future. To improve it is important to learn from experiences but to have a look how to adapt them to future projects and just continue.

"Always keep your Mindset Positive" has always been and will always be my mantra. A manager like that is really not fit to work. Aside from not having a teachable heart, he is also close-minded and afraid for change. I'm glad the boss did the right thing for him and that is to let him go.

Well, the boss did the right thing to do. My boss always told me that if I have 10 apples and 1 of that is rotten then it would affect the other 9. It's better to let him go that contaminate other people. The company doesn't need manager like him.

@drakedowney Agree! The Boss did the best thing in order to save his company. If I were also on his shoe, I would also do the same since I can't have an employee who is close minded!

The manager does not have a company, He is not willing to provide solution that will help the company he is working for do more in less time, and he is equally not willing to encourage someone who has brought up a solution. And he thinks he has the monopoly of knowledge and everyone else in the room is stupid.

"Let he that does not know seek to know earnestly because a lot of people that knows are willing to pass information to someone they see that genuinely wants to learn"
