My father used to say and he was quite right, that there is only one thing you can be sure of in life, one day, you won't be alive anymore, anything else is a bit of gamble. This silly saying, although comical does hold a tiny drop of wisdom I always try to remember.

Life does not owe me anything. There, I said it, and waking up to this idea is liberating. Yes, it might not feel good at first, but it also allows us to operate within reality. Why we should operate in reality is an argument I don't need to make.
I only say this because its a common mistake younger minds make. They think that when they do something good, life holds a ledger of that action and effectively they have deposited a guaranteed return in some hypothetical bank.
When the return, when the investment does not pay off, they feel cheated, as if life itself stole from them. To someone with this type of thinking, I have to ask. Who told you that it was guaranteed? Who said, if you are always kind, people will always be kind back? If someone did, they surely lied.
This does not mean we should not try, this does not mean we should not be kind to others, and plant seeds of love on the ground. It just means that if we do it while holding our breath, in expectation of guaranteed results, we fail to account that not even the wisest of men knows if its ever going to rain a week from now.
Nothing is guaranteed... remember that.
One of the nicest thoughts in recent days from anyone on this platform.
This paragraph presents the essence of a very valuable lesson for life. There is no bank or ledger where our good deeds are stored. We should not expect same thing in return which we have done to others because life has no such records of our deeds. We should be good because only goodness can make us true human and this world a better place for everyone including us.
Agreed! No one is keeping score except ourselves. And we are in charge of how we keep our score card...
All the best,
Shannon

THE YING AND THE YANG
Hello friend @chbartist, I agree with you that we should not leave aside in doing good, always try to do good without expecting anything in return, because it would be for interest .. there is a well-known saying that says: Do good, without looking at who, this saying is very clear, but of course if the person who is done a favor helps you in any way, it is not wrong, because it leaves the person to be grateful.
Good article brother, a hug!
This is kind of a mind unveiling post. I have never thought of this before. Life can be disappointing in a lot of ways but with this mindset, one just keep going. I guess one who said Life is a school of probability didn't have it wrong. Have a lovely weekend @chbartist
I really enjoyed this post, I tend to suffer that at times, expecting someone to be kind to me because I try my best to be kind to them but am beginning to understand the world doesn't work that way.... Sometimes it's not good to expect too much cause you can get hurt in the process.
great post @chbartist. we must try, better fail than never try it
Very true. Nothing in life in guarantee. Those that live with an entitlement mindset hardly have the strength to go on when things don't go as they expect. Real hustlers are people that believe that anything can happen and they always put in their best at what ever they do to try to turn things in their favor. When you understand that life don't owe you anything, you would always be on your toes
Yes it's true :)
Totally agree with you and your father, dear @chbartist...
Let's take it easy in doing everything in life... Just do our best, and the result will tell...
Just believe that "If there is a will, there is a way"....
Have a lovely day...😀☕❤
We must enjoy the day and live it as if it were the last. The only thing we have for sure is that one day we will not be alive.
Common thoughts in everyone in us. Be good and you will be treated good. While this is not correct for lifetime, why should it be reflected in any kind in afterlife?
Indeed! Just because you will not eat a tiger, does not mean it will not eat you. And who is wrong in such a scenario, the tiger for eating, or us for being in way of a hungry tiger?

I still beleive that when you do good ,you attract good things, like the saying what goes arround comes arround, what you sew is what you reap.
