Apparently, this personality trait of mine applies to book genres, too.
As a teen I loved Chick Lit, my mid twenties was taken up by Crime and slowly I crept into the world of YA, more specifically Dystopian YA. I love it.
I've been reflecting on why I love it so much and in conclusion I think it comes down to my interest on the future of humanity. I love sci-fi stories, too, so I can now see how this overlaps. What will become of the human race in the next century and beyond? What about our society, will it crumple or overcome? I can't get enough.
As for the YA element I think that's my inner teen rooting for the young, naive characters as they fight for justice and/or love.
So, any recommendations?
I loved The Hunger Games, Divergent, Legend Series. I've just picked up The Maze Runner. It doesn't strictly have to be YA or Dystopian either, just novels that centre around future societies/ environments.
Whether that be good or bad...
Thank you!
It does seem a bit odd that the older you got you slowly crept into loving the young adult genre :P
I read a ton of fantasy and generally try to stay far away from YA but I think something like the Red Rising series by Pierce Brown would be something that would be in your wheelhouse.
Haha, I know right! I have read YA outside of the dystopian/sci-fi setting and it's not something I'm overly drawn too. Ok thanks for the recommendation - i'll check it out!
If you do read the first one come back and let me know what you thought. I have a feeling that if you loved the hunger games you will at least enjoy the first book in the series.

Not many well written YA series out there but here's the few I've enjoyed:
The Reckoners series by Brandon Sanderson is really good, though it's a superhero dystopian.
The Lunar Chronicles series by Marrisa Meyer was pretty good.
James Dashner's Mortality Doctrine series is better then his Maze Runner series in my opinion.
Isaac Asmiov's Foundation series focuses around future societies and is really well done, though more of an adult series and not action filled. His book Robot Visions is also really good.
I'll have to check out the Legend series. It looks pretty interesting :)
