Reading: (Psalm 90:12) "Teach us in such a way to count our days, that we bring to the heart wisdom"
A high school teacher from Los Angles had a very unique way of encouraging her students to think. From time to time, he wrote brief messages on the board that were unrelated to what they were studying at that moment.
One morning, the students found the number 25,550 written on the board. Finally, one of them raised his hand and asked the teacher why that particular figure was there. She explained that 25,550 is the number of days a 70-year-old person has lived. In this way, I was trying to emphasize the shortness of life and the value of each day.
When I was young and looking to the future, time seemed to pass very slowly. It was difficult to imagine what older people used to say: "that time passed so quickly that they wondered where it had gone". but as I get older, the years seem short and ephemeral, especially when compared to eternity.
This emphasizes what James declared about life: "it is a mist that appears for a short time, and then fades away" (James 4:14). Therefore, it is important that we take full advantage of the opportunities we have to honor God, serve others and proclaim Christ. Let us ask the Lord to teach us "to count our days ..." (Psalm 90:12) so that we may live them with wisdom.
Do not limit yourself to spending time; reverse it.
