A Poem From My Grandma

My Grandma passed away earlier this week. It was sad news to hear but after a difficult battle with dementia and diminishing health, I'm glad she is no longer suffering.

Today we were going through some of her belongings and my mom came across this poem she had written. I think the poem is quite amusing and I thought I'd share it with you

Next Summer Will Be Different
by Grandma bwar

To catch the fish I've got the gear,
A rod, a reel and a case of beer!
A fishing boat to get me there,
Twelve dozen plugs & some lures to spare.
There's just one thing that's bugging me,
I've added & subtracted till I can't see.
With all my equipment, I have found,
That every fish catch, costs me fifty bucks a Pound!!

I love you Grandma and thank you for one more happy memory.

I regret that your grandmother is no longer with you, I would go crazy if I lose my grandmother because she is like my mom ... But it is a good poem and this post is a tribute to her memory !! Strength brother!

The Feel center in my Brain is exploding!

My Grams loved literature. The only ones in our family.... I miss her

@bwar ... nice to see someone write a poem in verse. And, she did it well.

My Grandmother died of Alzheimer's. The first poem I ever wrote was a eulogy for her. Now, my mother also has Alzheimer's and all my daughter's science fair projects for the past 6 years have been about curing Alzheimer's (last year she won Regional, State and went to the Intel Internationals ... that's the Olympics of science fairs). It's a terrible way to live and an even worse way to die. Sorry for your loss.

I posted a poem yesterday, "Two Beats," that you might like. Read the introduction part ... about being remembered. Although your grandmother has passed, the 'essence of her' will live on in your mind, but now also on the blockchain ... forever.
