RE: Story about restoration of TOYOTA LEVIN'93 (ae101)

in #life8 years ago

I dig it. I love people putting in work to make older regular cars nice drivers. I'm doing the same sort of ongoing/learning project with my '87 volvo 240.

Sort:

Oh, I know this car. Comfort and good look) Got photo?

Looks a bit rough right now... at some point I'm going to try my hand at a DIY paint job. Right now I'm tearing apart the top end to replace the valve absorbers and replacing all the intake gaskets and hoses and some sensors hidden under there. Maybe paint will be the next project! 18404243_10156330408268916_8991204672716721678_o.jpg

Is it air suspension? Am I understand right?

Or its about turbo charger? =)

I wish! Hah, the '85-'87 motors have thin connecting rods and aren't much good for turbocharging like the earlier and later models. A more aggressive camshaft could be done though.

Nah, it has mechanical lifters, so it has these rubber cushions for the valves under the camshaft, and after 255,000 miles, they're probably all gone, so I'm going to replace them since I'm doing the timing belt anyway.

Here's where I'm at now!

It's one shaft? Maybe it's time for swap engine?) Fresher engine gives new life to your car.

Oh! I understend! Oil-remover cap, right?)
