KnowLedge as an Antidepressant.

Depression… It affects quite a bit of people. Depression can be due to many factors. The factor that was hurting me most was my thoughts. Most people know that negative thought patterns can cause or make depression worse. Negative thoughts are defeating. Most of the time the situation is not really as bad the individual perceives it be. It is easy to get stuck in these negative thought loops. and this you can miss out on opportunities that are right in front of you. So I wrote a quick poem about how getting stuck in a negative thought pattern works. At the end of it, I give my advice on how to change your thought pattern.

Premonition, patterns govern your Iife position

You move on auto pilot, no regards to intuition.

Stuck in a negative pattern, walking circLes, to nowhere
Living a Life of doubt and fear
Funny how patterns can bring you here

A faiLure, a bust, Living in a nightmare
Frustration, Iife continues to ware

You become a prisoner of your own psyche, fear
mediocrity, never Let yourself stay here

You wiII continue in cycles of insanity, unless you change your thought
A change in perspective, gives the life you aIIot.

How do you change thought?

You change thought through changing your perspective. I found that it heLped to evaluate my perspective on past events. (Being in a different state of mind can help sometimes too.) What I found is that I was mistaking my feelings for facts. I realized that if I continued to be negative, that it would create warped perspective of what opportunities were actually in front of me. This all came to me when I was on a trip. A vacation trip. Being in a different environment, or in a different state of mind can help break patterns. So if you are depressed, I challenge you to look at your perspective, and change it. Life has presented so many opportunities since my change in perception.

another good way to change your perspective is to try and view/understand the perspective of someone close to you, such as a loved one or a friend. It helps build a stronger bond between the two

I completely agree. Sometimes people can see things that we don't. And understanding their perspective helps us learn about ourselves.

This is an inspiration idea, and I think should be spread especially in my country.

Depression can be devastating. Another manner you can and should look in to is called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I'm a graduate student in psychology and suffer from depression due to my bipolar. It think CBT is a very effective way to find the singularity of the depression and help you understand and cope with it in a health manner. Beautiful Poem!

Cheers!

Thank you! I have read a IittIe into it,when I was in school. It has been awhile though. I will definitely look into it.
